Guest guest
, The snow plows come and plows everything to the right- so the cars parked there get plowed in. They do not remove the snow from the streets where the cars park so there is yet less places to park. Like today at work, you could only park on one side. So I was way down the block and had to walk a whole block that wasnt even shoveled and it was a sheet of ice under the snow. I am scared of falling at my age and scared of amanda falling. My mom broke her arm on a patch of ice a few days before Xmas a few years ago- it was awful. One year, like 10 of my collegues broke something. So, again I will reiterate how much I love snow! NOT!!!!!
Guest guest
I was forced to live in Missouri (Fort Leonard Wood) for 4 years as an Army wife. There are plenty of hillbillies around that area of the OZARKS. It also had the nastiest weather I have ever faced and I've lived in ALASKA. Elaine Re: Winter has arrived! Guest guest
After 3 years in Alaska and shoveling approximately 9 feet of the stuff per year and having it not melt at ALL until the end of April (from Sept) and then having to move to Missouri where it either snowed or rained all the time, I would be perfectly content if I NEVER saw another flake. I HATE snow. Elaine Re: Winter has arrived! One can surely hate the snow living here with more than a foot in the big apple- put all those clothes on, boots, etc. Clean off the car, shovel the steps to the house, climb over snow mountains to get in or out of the car, drive really slow, park on another mountain of snow, hold amanda's hand while walking, watch out for icy patches, and then do it all over again the next time one ventures out! - wishing I was somewhere way southern right now. Guest guest
, I can't imagine not having a yard to throw the snow from the sidewalks on. Do they have snow removal crews that hit the street and remove the piles so cars can park? The town where I work does - never saw such a contraption before. Aww, but I do love the snow. This morning I looked in my back yard and saw deer tracks that went to the woods. shoveled the driveway this time..whew! You just need to move south dear - but not too far south. This year we didn't have to worry to much , we thought they would NEVER come through. It took them until Sunday afternoon to start plowing the side roads. That way everyone who shoveled out their driveways could just go do it again!! Are we having fun yet??? I hear ya! Loree

My kids were in culture shock and while they LOVED the snow, for about 2 minutes... then they got cold and wet and the fun was over! And THEN, we were in my parents house, NOT a kid friendly house with 4 small kids who were used to running around in the desert! Guest guest
Well, I can't hold back anymore on this thread. I love snow. In the northwestern panhandle of land we get more than the rest of the state and for some reason more than the equally-mountainous nearby West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. I don't know what our yearly average is supposed to be but we generally don't see the ground from early December until mid-March. I love the snow when it's falling and hope it never stops. I feel disappointed and let down when it starts stopping. I get excited about forecasts for a winter storm. The harder and longer it snows, the better. Last year's Presidents' Day 53 " snowfall, on top of the couple feet we already had, was kind of a nuisance, especially when we had to get up on the roof and shovel it off (roofs were in danger of collapsing and some did.) But the novelty of that made up for the hassle. Shoveling the roof was a blast and added height to the snow around the house for better buried-yard pictures. No doubt I would feel differently if our roof had caved in. And I am frightened of driving through a white-out, and of driving on icy or slushy roads. Driving on plain snow isn't nearly as slippery as ice and slush. When we had kids at home, I loved putting on boots and snowsuits and taking them off again, draping soggy mittens over the woodstove and turning boots upside down on newspapers to dry. Now we have grandkids who are awed by our snow (they live in Columbus, OH, in some kind of barren valley that misses most of the snow) and I love it when they visit and get to play in the snow. As for just living here all winter, with snow on the ground, it rapidly becomes just the normal state of affairs, no more noticeable than green grass in the summer. A heavy snow slows things down somewhat on the day of the storm, but otherwise you just do what you always do. We get so we don't really measure how much more has fallen during a day or night .... it snows off and on most of the winter without seeming to change much, just every few days we have a couple more inches, more or less.... more is just " more, " who's counting? It's just there, unless we get a heavier storm that needs to be cleaned up again. But for me it never loses its magic when it's falling. Guest guest
Ellie, I'm glad the weather is suppose to be ok on Friday in your area - my son is coming home for winter break. His father is picking him up. I do hate the fog in the mountains on I 68. How close are you to Penn's Alp? My dad likes to stop there and eat. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
