Rakel: Integrative Medicine, 1st ed., Copyright © 2003 Saunders PREVENTION PRESCRIPTION • Daily routine • AM: Patients are counseled to awaken at or around sunrise and to take a 20- to 30-minute walk and practice meditation. • Lunch: Patients should make lunch the main meal of the day. • PM: Patients should practice meditation, eat a light supper, and go to bed no later than 10:30. • Exercise: A brisk 20- to 30-minute early-morning walk is a good way to get started. This can be increased or supplemented, depending on the patient’s fitness level.
