Guest guest
Well, we have an awful lot to be thankful for. Tomorrow will be Jan's first big event since a party in California weeks before her August bone marrow transplant. We will have 23 family around the Thanksgiving table (I built it today .. 18 feet long so everyone can be at the same table). It is into the living room because there isn't enough room in the dining room. The bigggest thing is being thankful that Jan is with us. Right now she hasn't hair .. that seems to have fallen out from some level of graft/host disease, but the biopsy results came back clean with her brother's blood system having completely set up housekeeping in her. There are no signs of leukemia. She also isn't eating much. She will fix herself a meal and than take only a few bites. She is not quite holding her own on weight, and for a total turnaround, we are encouraging her to eat more. We are thankful for family who come to join us (and those who cannot come, like her donor brother who just today found out that he doesn't have to work on Friday. He will have his Thanksgiving with kids he grew up with .. but in Houston, not New York. And I am especially thankful to the many of you out there for your prayers, support and love. This is a wonderful community. Jan isn't out of the woods yet, but every day is one step ahead. Rick
Guest guest
Rick iam happy to hear jan is doing well, i haven't spoke with you before, as i am somewhat new, but, anywhooo. My Lucy Lou (nickname of course) now 9, 10 in January & amp; ds, was diagnosed with leukemia on March 25th 2002 (then 8). last year at this time she had the shinest most hairless head you have ever seen and this year it is a matted mess. I ahve even had to threaten buzzing it short if she doesn't keep it clean and brushed!!! i will say my prayers for Jan when i pray for lucy.
