Guest guest
Underwear with a plastic liner works really well for Potty training. These can be purchased at the store if the child is under 60 lbs or on line at one of the liner stores for children over 60 lbs. Kim Re: Potty Blake is 3 1/2 and not pottied trained yet either. Once or twice he actually went in his potty chair! But, he prefers his diaper. One day we put " big boy undies " on him and took him to sit on the potty every 45 minutes. I put his diaper back on for his nap after about 5 hours of this with no success. He literally went as soon as the diaper was back on. LOL! I guess there are no issues with bladder control. We went to meet next year's preschool teacher a few days ago. She asked me if he would be potty trained before fall. My first thought was to tell her that she was asking a lot because of the DS. Then I just said, " we'll try. " I don't want to give the teacher the idea that she needs to lower her expectations just because he has DS. So, we'll be back in potty training mode this summer as well. Good luck Loree and Angie. Schulte
Guest guest
We purched plastic underpants from http://www.plastic-pants.com/ They were good quality..... the only problem is that the ones I ordered were too big, and they are not returnable (for health reasons), so measure carefully. was sleeping when I was online, so I tried to measure her in bed, and then just rounded up (too much I guess :-) Good luck! , mom to (8), (6 DS), and (4) karenmotes@... wrote: >what is the name of the on-line " liner store " ? i would love to do this for chris (9) who is potty trained but keeps having these little accidents or " leaks " and i want to make sure nothing shows during certain times (like when his feet are being washed at holy thursday mass) thanks - karen in dallas > Re: Potty > > > Blake is 3 1/2 and not pottied trained yet either. Guest guest
Yes. I have these liners and they work great on the outside of the underwear in case the child has an accident. But, I didn't want to put him in bed this way. I don't think they hold well enough for naptime. Re: Re: Potty The liner is on the outer side of the underwear. I have a few pairs like this but haven't tried them. When I did try the training underpants, with plastic pants over them, they didn't " hold " the urine (it would still leak out) and they made my daughter sweat and itch. Although, anything is worth trying, I still say our children (with DS) have to simply " be ready " just as our other children (without DS). Just to keep in mind! Guest guest
I don't know maybe I should rethink this and leave the diapers off at nap and bedtime. We already have a liner over the mattress anyway. Thanks for your suggestions everyone. Schulte Re: Potty Blake is 3 1/2 and not pottied trained yet either. Guest guest
none of my children have trained easily. i thought for sure my daughter (just turned 3 in feb) would be my easiest one and that i had earned it. while she is completely ready - stays dry at night and has for over a year, talks about it, brings me the diaper, chooses the diaper she prefers, follows me to potty and tries to help ME wipe and then cheers for me when i finish ( " yeah mommy - you did it!!! " ), the one day i REALLY insisted that she wear her panties and had her on the potty all day - she literally held her URINE in for 24 hours until she finally wet herself. her ped. said this is going to have to be her decision - so i feel no guilt about the fact that she is still in a diaper. it's not my problem anymore. btw - christopher (DS) was about 5 when he was urine-trained and 7 when he finally started having BM's on the potty. jonathan was 3 for urine and had his first BM on the potty after FOUR!!! can you say anal-retentive???? karen in dallas Re: Potty Blake is 3 1/2 and not pottied trained yet either. Guest guest
Hi.. Dylan is five years old. He been potty training off and on for two years from 3 years old. I put him underwaer got wet himself few times so I switch back to pullups. Sometime he dont wet in pullups in school. In few times he dont wet in bed. It depends on the child mood. We have to figure out what the child mind is.. That what I been doing in those times. I asked Dylan to go to bathroom he keep telling me no. I forced him to do and he do it right away. How I do is keep trying to make him understand keep going and will give him stickers. He was soo exicted. I dont know if u guys do that.. Let try that.. Stickers would be great idea. He loves it to put it on the paper on the back of the bathroom door. Right now I want to see fully trained. I know it is very hard working. Lots of patience. and give it time to get the child understand the potty. -- In , <karenmotes@s...> wrote: > none of my children have trained easily. i thought for sure my daughter (just turned 3 in feb) would be my easiest one and that i had earned it. while she is completely ready - stays dry at night and has for over a year, talks about it, brings me the diaper, chooses the diaper she prefers, follows me to potty and tries to help ME wipe and then cheers for me when i finish ( " yeah mommy - you did it!!!
