Guest guest
Yoga Break: Desk Yoga for Releasing Your Lower Back It's a physical fact that we are shorter at the end of the day than we are at the start. This is because the force of gravity increases compression in our spine hour by hour until often, by the end of the day, we can barely stand the pain. In general, yoga helps with this problem by encouraging us to lengthen the spine and fight compression. But if you find that your pain increases over a day of sitting, try this simple exercise to relieve the pain: Sit in your chair with your feet on the floor at hip distance. Place the heels of your palms on the tops of your legs as close to your hips as possible. Allow your shoulder blades to rise up to your ears as you push down firmly with your palms. Increase the pressure until you feel your spine lengthen in response. Remain there until the pain in your back melts away.
