Guest guest
Healing Yoga: Yoga for Depression Each year more than 25 million Americans are treated with antidepressants like Prozac. While these medications have been effective, they aren't without cost. Side effects, such as weight gain, lethargy, and sexual dysfunction, have brought into question whether medication is the only solution. It may not be. Recent studies have shown evidence that the practice of yoga — postures, breathing techniques, and meditation — has beneficial effects on the emotional well-being and mental acuity of depression sufferers. And, best of all, without the side effects that pills may carry. If you're interested in treating depression with yoga in addition to (or instead of) other forms of therapy, find a trained teacher and check with your doctor. It's not the right solution for everyone, but it might be right for you.
