I've almost passed out when my sugar gets too low, not funny! But a decent diet high in complex carbs and high in protein helps me. 5 meals a day! That sounds like real scary stuff...but it may not be anything really horrible. You may just have a nasty infection, and the fever will make you pass out like that...and leave you disoriented. I can think of 2 times that I did the passing out routine...first time was after high school...had a real high fever, and after about 5 days of antibiotics...fever kept going up till it hit 104.5 then suddenly...there were the familiar spots of measels!!!! The next time it happened was about 10-15 years ago...again, days later I started experiencing pain...took out my appendix and an abscess that had ruptured on the colon... If they hadn't thought it was my appendix, they could have just treated me w/antibiotics...but the tests weren't as good in those days. In any case, try to keep calm...(almost impossible, I know). What ever it is, the docs will find it and fix it. Please hang in there...and know that we are all praying for you. I caught my cheek on something, now I have 8 stitches in my face, and a black eye. Bumps all over my head. Now I have pinkeye. This really stinks! The docs believe that my passing out episodes are from drug interactions, and I haven't passed out (as far as I know) since yesterday morning. I'm leaving tomorrow for Philadelphia until Tuesday. I haven't passed out since yesterday morning, (I think) thanks for your concern, it sure makes me feel loved. Don is with me now most of the time, and drives me around until I feel safe driving. I have my ICD for almost 2 years now got my first one when I was 21. now I am 25. Maybe if you could see a therapist that would help. or go on some anxiety medications. Hope you are doing well. In July I got shocked while bicycle riding and I fell over and fractured my skull and got a traumatic brain injury. I was in a coma for 3 weeks. I know what being scared is like. I go to psychotherapy and I take the anti-anxiety medication Alprazolam and the antidepressant Mirtazapine. It helps. It can and will get better. Take very good care of yourself. We are here for you. I got a number of responses, thank you all for getting back to me. If will get back to Lynn's worries about being depressed and scared. If you remember I have had 1 heart attack,a 6 vein CABG, 18 stents(6 since the CABG) and a ICD, and type 2 Diabetes all in the last year and a half. 2 1/2 weeks ago I started the EECP treatment and the first 2 treatments went fine (Thurs & Friday). Then at 11:30 that Friday night my mother in law call with chest pain and my wife & I took her to the emergency room. By the time they admitted her I had already taken 3 nitro's ( of course all the doc's know me by now) from the stress of her heart problems. Anyway we got rooms in the hospital next to each other. She had a stent put in on Monday (she returned to days ago for another one), I could no stop from having angina ( when I eat or walked or got upset), and the only thing that would help was morphine. They gave we a chemical stress test and no major veins were blocked (small vessels only) so after 4 days in the hospital they sent me home with a major change in my med's (I take 17 different med's). Now this is the part for Lynn--I started on 3.125mg of Coreg 2x day, now it's 50mg 2x day, started with 25mg of Zoloft once a day then 50mg, and now it's 100mg once a day and 0.25mg of Alprazolam 3x a day for a month until the higher dose of Zololt kicks in. The last two med's are to help with the depression and uneazyness from all that has happened. My doc said that I should maybe see a psychologist. He said that a lot of heart patients need professional help. I told him about this group and he feels this could be the help some people need but depending on the person, more professional help maybe necessary. I know that both my wife and I have been on the edge since all of the heart problems started and it's nothing to be embarrested about. My GP just wondered if I thought I was superman and didn't need any of the antidepressant meds to get through what is one of the most trying times in your life. I know some of you have heard this before but I don't want to feel this way all my life.Could it be my BP meds I'm on toprol LX 25mg & a arrhythmia Med 200mg a day. I have been shocked as many as 20 times in an hour, but they were life saving appropriate shocks, not anymore enjoyable I can assure you, but I needed them. Your heart was fine and you leads messed up, that really sucks! I know that does not help you out at this very moment, but as others have said, time will ease your fright and depression. You do need to go to your Dr and get on some meds to help you cope with this. That is how we all survive with this and go on with our lives. We are not super humans, were only humans on meds. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Share Posted February 21, 2006 I had a similar experience where my device malfunctioned and shocked me 7 times in 15 minutes, for no reason at all. Time is a big solver, but xanax can definitely help. I didn’t need the antidepressant, but everyone is different. I’ve been coping with this since 1994 and am 37 yrs. old with a 12 yr. old daughter.
