Guest guest
Reflection: Mindfulness in the Kitchen If you're reading this newsletter regularly, you're doubtlessly someone who cares about being in good shape. You are probably physically active. You may be quite strong. You may even embody the picture of health. But what level is your level of health on the inside? If you happen to be one of those students who comes into the yoga studio trailing candy wrappers and half-finished bags of chips, perhaps it's time to rethink the effect yoga is having on your life. One of the greatest lessons of our practice is to become more aware of our bodies and more at home in our skin. But often that lesson goes out the window when it comes to choosing food. How can we eat in a way that's appropriate to the lessons we learn on the mat? The first step is simply listening to your body and noticing the way it responds to the food that you give it. If it seems not to respond so well, perhaps it's time to make a change. Over the next few days, notice any correlation between your diet and your mood, and then take steps to improve your overall health with simple dietary changes.
