The Bavarian-English minstrel mentioned yesterday that Yerba Mate was

good for calming the breathing, amongst other things.

I brew the odd brew with Mate plus green tea for some friends who suffer

from Asthma. I thought combining the Mate with camellia sinensis and

Kombucha, might turn out extra efficacious.

BTW, I do keep the Mate culture separate from the camellia sinensis only

culture.

Your family history sounds amazing! :-)

Hi Margret, thanks for answering so quickly. Here in Argentina everybody drinks

yerba mate, brewed in a special gourd and drunk through a metal straw called

" bombilla " Mate is drunk from the richest to the poorest and no matter where you

go, you are likely to be offered a mate.(Not always) I personally don't think

the way it`s done here is very healthy, as everybody shares the same gourd and

bombilla and more water is added after each round. Then a new brew is

prepared..I also keep my tea and yerba mate away from each other. Funnily

enough, I'm not a big mate fan,

As for my family history, I have just learned the ranch produce of mate may

have to be sold due to the financial depression the country is undergoing. A

very big enterprise has offered to buy it. I don`t know what my cousins intend

to do. The sale would be a big pity. If you are ever interested, I'll send you

some pics of the estancia.
