The cosmetics aren't the only (or even the primary) issue; I think the QVC has a shorter warranty as well.

The padded handle not a big deal to me, long as the machine itself is the same and runs the same, the dry mix blender that you can get doesn't come with a padded handle either so that's no biggie there.... I just comparing to make sure I've gotten the best investment and later not be surprised I have something else, which is what my fam member think, they think I got a totally different product than what we saw so wonderfully demoed! To me the warranty is the most important difference between the models. If I had a QVC model, I wouldn't sweat the cosmetic differences either.

Lea ann I'm thankful for your advice, although I've already received my qvc Vitamix, I wasn't aware there was any other way to get at a good price besides roadshow and I just missed our Costco one, so had been sitting with fingers crossed waiting until I ran across qvc, a little disappointed it's not the same exact 5200 model I had seen demo, but from what I'm told it's the same guts just not the same glam, so hopefully I can be happy with it, because I'd hate to haft send back and then be waiting once again, but definitely will refer the friends n fam interested to you, thanks again

Yes, it is very easy to order from me - they just have to send me an email with the color, the address they want it shipped to and I have a Vitamix representative contact them to get the credit card information. Shipping is Free when they order this way :-)

Like I said, we had to make cuts in the product to be able to sell them at the low price that QVC demanded. Vitamix will never alter their retail price for a 5200, so they had to "create" something "less" so they could charge less.

When I received my VM "it came in a brand new (colourful) box" which had a white background with bells and whistles on it eg. picture of VM with additional info. etc. I had to return it as it was the wrong colour. VM with the colour of my choice came in a brown, heavy cardboard box with no bells and whistles on it except big bold VM stamped on it. Definatley did not look like it the original box...any relections?

The red machines are sold in brown boxes - did you order red? If it was black or white I have no idea why it came in that box.I also have no idea why the red machines are sold in that ugly box.

Maybe the special orders don't come pre-packed? Do the ones with the stainless finish also come in an icky box?

When I do Whole Foods Stores (the only venue where I sell all 4 colors) the black, white, and stainless machines are in "pretty" boxes and the red is always in that ugly brown box. I have NO idea why...

When I really started thinking about it, I actually came to believe that a refurb is BETTER - because this machine has been tested at least twice over to absolutely ensure VitaMix doesn't see it again!!!! The red machines are sold in brown boxes - did you order red? If it was black or white I have no idea why it came in that box.

I also have no idea why the red machines are sold in that ugly box.

VM with the colour of my choice came in a brown, heavy cardboard box with no bells and whistles on it except big bold VM stamped on it. Hi there, I'm someone that bought a refurbished machine about one year ago - and I tell everyone that I know that is concerned about the price of a VitaMix to get a refurbished machine. You absolutely cannot tell any difference between a refurb and a non-refurb machine. Mine came in a brand new box, and everything was shiny and new.
