Guest guest
Reflection: Accepting Yourself You've probably already heard many times how important it is to "love yourself." But what does that even mean? And how on earth — in a society that's rooted in criticism — can you learn how to do it? Yoga teaches us that we must love ourselves before we can love other people. This is because the way we feel about ourselves is the way we feel about others. If we are suspicious and critical of ourselves, we view others the same way. Conversely, when people belittle us, it may be because they lack self-esteem. Yoga asks us to start this process of self love by unconditionally accepting ourselves. When we recognize that we embody pure life and are part of a larger whole, we can forgive and even forget our specific flaws because they don't really matter. What really matters is the good that is already there in all of us. Seeing that good inside is the first step toward seeing it all around you.
