Guest guest
I can actually help whooppee! Ok to start with I am a professional dog and cat groomer, 18 years of bites to prove it. I have had really good results using a glycerin base shampoo and adding neem oil ,small amount of aloe, and a citrus or lavender FO. to help cover the neem. I will usually bathe the dogs first in an inexpensive doggy shampoo if they are really nasty, then bathe in the neem shampoo and it really knocks the itches, several of my customers swear by it and they haven't had to get the cortisone shots so far this year. I also keep water in jugs with mint floating all the time for final rinses it is great. As far as the cats use a gentle but firm hand by the scruff of the neck and hold on for evrything it's worth you will have better luck placing an old screen at a slant in the tub and let kitty latch on to it instead of you they tend to calm down better with it or a towel in the bottom of the tub. Almost any shampoo will kill fleas once you get oil off the flea itself the flea will drown the problem is you have to leave the shampoo on long enough to work 3-5 min. suds them up and pray. I would not use neem shampoo on the cat though you can use the mint water with no reaction. for bassets try wiping out ears and all over body with cloth soaked in the mint water it will cut the doggy smell. Hi Sharon, Thank you so much for sharing some of your expertise with us!!! I make my own doggie bar shampoos and have been pretty happy with the results, but I haven't yet thought to incorporate Neem oil. I was wondering what percentage of neem are you incorporating into your soap and are you using a liquid or a solid soap? Thanks again! ( I know my dogs are cowering under the bed already thinking " Oh no!!! She's going to do another experiment on us!! " ) ;-) MoonDance Soaps & More 6013 OId Horseman Trail, Raleigh, NC 27613 919-870-8063 ------ http://www.moondancesoaps.com
Guest guest
Sharon, Thank you for your post! Do you know what the difference is between soap for humans and soap for dogs? Does it need to be more moisturizing or produce less lather than regular " human " soap? I want to try making a dog soap, but am having a hard time finding answers to these questions. Thanks for your help. in T.O. I can actually help whooppee! Ok to start with I am a professional dog and cat groomer, 18 years of bites to prove it.
