Hi all good people,I don't post, since I really don't feel I have much to add, but I do learn a lot here. I would like to ask if people would please start trimming their posts. I get the digest form of the messages, and probably miss some good information, due to folks NOT trimming. Message 4172 Please change my email to vigorforall@... is an example, and I've included it here. It's an extreme, but not by much. Em, since some of us defected from lists that were run by--dare I post it?--control freaks, we're kind of laissez-faire here (even with regard to off-topic posts, since things eventually get back on track). I personally am more bothered by over-trimmed posts because I usually have no idea to what specifically they refer, but that's just me. I must say, though, that this is a first--I don't think anyone has yet posted a new subject pasted to a daily digest!

BTW, I'm on a daily digest for another list I belong to but only because I don't post to it and because there's not much of interest on it anyway. Maybe someone else has a suggestion for a solution that might work for em?

I am bothered too when

I miss something from a msg. that’s been trimmed. More than once I’ve had to

go online and check the group msgs. online. That takes more time.

I still belong to where the members, rather than the moderators, are control freaks and jump on every word that they deem is "wrong" in their opinion. :::chuckle::: I also belong to a couple of groups where the moderators are control freaks and if you post the wrong thing, you'll be chastised in front of the entire group. Every once in a while, we get plaintive cries to please trim posts from people on digest.

People state that they don't want their inbox cluttered with many messages, and that is why they choose digest delivery.

The best thing to do, is to drop the digest form and go back on individual message delivery. Then, set your email program to automatically sort all messages as they are downloaded into various folders. Create a folder for this group. Whenever you have a minute or two, you can look at all the messages from this group in one place, and we will all be freed from trying to keep track of individual posts contained in digests.

I agree with about setting your emails to go in folders. I am also a moderator here, and I TRY to trim posts when I can, but sometimes I or others are posting from ipads or other gadgets where trimming posts is very fiddly or complicated, so the message just gets posted in its entirety. Better too much info than not enough sometimes._._,___

Hello Em,I've been out running errands and have meant to reply to this, but see that lots of people said some of the same things that I would.Digest is such a difficult method of reading and replying to posts that for all of the 72 I am on, I either go "no mail" and only read the posts online, or I am on "individual emails". As others suggested, if you set up a folder in your email program for each list you are subscribed to it makes reading, skipping, replying, and deleting emails SO EASY! Are you able to set up folders in your email program? If not, let me know what program you use for email and I'll find the instructions to help you set up a folder for Vitamix Enthusiast emails. You can even call me at home and I would be more than happy to walk you through it online. Once you know how to set up email folders you will LOVE it. I have folders for work emails, emails from my parents, all of my , some of my online bills, EBay, Receipts, etc.

Em,I too used to be on digest and used to ask repeatedly for people to trim their posts. I finally figured out that is was easier to change the way I do things than to change the way a whole group of people do things. I just wanted to throw in what I think about this. I have posted this in

the past. I do understand that different people have difference ways to

receive their email. But I truly believe it is each person choice to make.

I own and moderate 4 and it is not a something my members have

to do. I figure it is up to each person whether they are on individual

messages or the digest. They each have there own benefits. Asking everyone

to trim posts for the people that chose digest would be like asking everyone

to not post so many messages for those on individual messages. Each person

makes up their own mind how they want to receive messages and has to deal

with how it works.
