I guess fortunatly....the cancer is in the breast opposite the ICD. I haven't heard anything from Guidant as of yet regarding this but from what you tell me I am hoping it is far enough away to be sheilded... 5xper week for 6 weeks is 30 radiation treatments, should the number of times matter when it comes to my ICD? I surely dont want to add removal of device then implanting it all over again to the list of traumatics I already have going on here. uh oh.....mood swing comming....rage or crying??/ who knows....look out!!!

Re:biopsy results

Your concern regarding irradiation and ICDs is a real one only if the radiation field of treatment includes the area of the ICD, which for most devices would be treating breast cancer. Most therapies involve treating the tumor bed with 70 Gy of radiation. The ICD can tolerate up to 10 Gy in comparison. The options would be to temporarily remove the ICD or to shield the area to reduce the exposure. Under those circumstances the device needs to be continuously monitored.Best to youAllanPlease visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org
