Guest guest
Hi, I was at a Costco and the vitamix man there was doing a juice with the avocado pit. The juice was yummy and heavenly. But I thought the pit had toxic or poisonous elements in it, he was recommending people do it for purifying and cleansing virtues of the pit. Does anyone know about safety and nutrition of the avocado pit? Thank you, Aneta
Guest guest
Here's a Google search on "Eating Avacado Pits"http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=eating+avacado+pit & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8I've done it once because I'd heard they were good for you. I ground the pit with the flesh of the avocado and nothing else. It was too bitter for my liking - perhaps if ground with more foods (fruits?) to hide the bitterness it would be ok. Did he include the flesh of the avocado? If he did, it would have come out something like a pudding. Do you remember what fruits he used with the pit? Guest guest
Hi and Lea Ann, If I remember correctly, he first poured in some of Welch's either papaya or passion fruit juice concentrate, then added some water (looked like 1/2 juice and 1/2 water), squeezed some lime (about 1/2 lime but I don't remember if he threw the lime w/peel in to the vitamix or in to the trash), put the pit in with out the flesh, added about 1 cup of ice, and that was all. It came out absolutely delish. He just said that the pit contained a lot of fiber, and aided with detoxification. He said he drinks juice/smoothies with the pit about 3 times a week. Take care everyone, have a wonderful, healthy, happy, holiday season! Aneta > > > Hi, > > > > I was at a Costco and the vitamix man there was doing a juice with the avocado pit. Guest guest
Thanks! I'll have to give it a try--VERY creative use of an avocado pit. Guest guest
The first time I saw mention of eating the avocado pit, the article said that it was being investigated as a possible cancer treatment. Don't know if anything came of that or not. Maybe the research is ongoing??Sorry I can't give you the name of the article. It was in one of those paragraph-type news blurbs you get every once in awhile.Peggy
Guest guest
I'm not Lea Ann but juice concentrates aren't raw; concentrating involves cooking them to remove the water. Re: Re: Avocado Pit hi lea anne, on one of your videos you recommend the yellow top welch's white grape juice for a sweetener. is this considered raw? thanks, bonnie also, if you are not too busy, i am becoming overwhelmed with information overload. there are so many nutritional things i think i need to be eating and i can't get them all it. when comsuming flax seed, hemp seed, chia seeds, sprouts, etc. should they all be consumed every day or every other or a couple of times a week.? thanks, bonnie Re: Avocado Pit Hi and Lea Ann, If I remember correctly, he first poured in some of Welch's either papaya or passion fruit juice concentrate, then added some water (looked like 1/2 juice and 1/2 water), squeezed some lime (about 1/2 lime but I don't remember if he threw the lime w/peel in to the vitamix or in to the trash), put the pit in with out the flesh, added about 1 cup of ice, and that was all.
