Guest guest
Yoga Basics: Practice Hygiene If you decide to go to a public class, how should you prepare? Should you take a shower? Wear makeup or perfume? What about essential oils to mask body smells during your practice? In general, it is polite to come to class clean and free from body odors. That doesn't mean that you must go home to shower before class — just that you should be generally groomed and prepared. Most teachers will request that you not wear scents found in perfume or body oils so that you won't disturb other members of the class who may not enjoy the same scent. Those who wear makeup or lotions may wish to wash up before class. The reason for this is that the practice is designed to release toxins in the body. Releasing toxins through clean skin is most effective. Likewise, once class is over, you may wish to shower and/or exfoliate to clean your skin of any remaining waste. Whatever hygiene you settle on, you're sure to feel clean and refreshed after a good practice. __________________________________________________
