Guest guest
I Would go get polled. That's exactly the kind of thing they test in the polling procedure. Lead integrity is an issue. I have had impacts that I thought could have loosened my leads and the EP said come on down. Ken >From: Bill schaeffler <freqtravel2@...> >Reply- > >Subject: broken leads >Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2004 04:03:08 -0700 (PDT) > > I have a dumb question. Last week I was in a minor traffic accidentand recieved a strong jolt on impact. No injuries but sore muscles etc. I hae been wondering if my leads could have cme loose without my knowing about it. Has anyone had their leads from icd or heart come out and did you know it at the time? > Thanks for the info > Bills and Zeus Get fast, reliable Internet access with MSN 9 Dial-up – now 3 months FREE! Guest guest
Let me tell you if our leads had come lose or been cracked, frayed, or any other term you can apply. You would have known about it ASAP. When the lead wires fry or are dislodged you will get what they call a short shock. The shock will be harder than normal as I have been told as it is actually wire on wire or metal on metal and you will definitely feel it. You will feel fine and notice no irregular symptoms but then all of a sudden bam, generally there will be more than one shock and it will make no difference what you are doing even sitting still. I have had my lead wires break pull lose, etc., three different occasions. It resulted in multiple firing of great discomfort and pain. We have always called our local squad for transport to hospital, even though I know it is broken they are not allowed to turn it off, that is why I know have a very strong magnet that I keep on hand as no one will believe you until they run a strip at the hospital so it just keeps shocking the pis-- out of you Sharon in Ohio
Guest guest
Hate to burst our bubble but that is not true my first lead wire rotted after 13 months, second lead wired snapped after 1 year, third lead wire damaged after 6 months, fourth lead wire to break broke after 2 weeks. They don't like to tell you tis but this is one of the biggest problems with any of the icd. Believe it or not swiming in the ocean and being hit but waves caused my one to break. The other breaks just happened. My finally one broke do to serve coughing episode. Sharon in Ohio. I have had lead wire break or damage over 6 times, I was not a happy camper during any of the episodes
