Guest guest
Yoga Basics: Different Styles You may have noticed by now that there are many different styles of yoga. You've seen listings for Hatha yoga, Iyengar yoga, Flow, and many other styles on your studio's schedule. How do you know what these terms mean, and which style is best for you? Hatha yoga is the larger category of physical yoga (as opposed to the yoga of service, for example). So a Hatha class usually incorporates elements from various other traditions. Iyengar classes emphasize alignment and precision, while Flow classes focus on synchronizing breath and movement. And there are a myriad of other important styles out there! When you're first getting started, it's good to shop around to find the style and teacher that best match your needs. Ask the teacher to tell you a little more about the different styles offered at your studio, talk to other students, and look on the web for more information (for example, visit http://www.yogajournal.com/newtoyoga/165_1.cfm to learn more about different yoga styles). There's a style of yoga for everyone — it's just a matter of finding the right one for you! __________________________________________________
