Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This morning I did Tae Bo Get Ripped Basic Workout # 2, Trainer's Edge Killer Butt, 10 min " bonus " of Killer Abs (on the Butt dvd) and 10 min bonus of Long & Lean Yoga (from the Trainer's Edge Interval Workout w/ Petra). The Tae Bo workout starts with floor work - abs and butt, then it is on to about 15 min or so of typically Tae Bo cardio moves. A good quick workout -- but sort of light - which was fine for me today. After Tae Bo I did the Trainer's Edge Killer Butt workout -- as many have pointed out -- the drawbacks are -- the set is boring, the music is boring, the instructor does count quite a bit (but that actually didn't bother me very much at all -- it sort of went with the Tae Bo theme of the morning!) and it looks like they bathed the instructor in baby oil or something!! But(t) I do think this is an effective workout. There is nothing new or fancy here - but I fully expect to be sore tomorrow. The workout starts with standing moves, squats, lunges and variations (pulses, squat kicks, etc.) The first series of standing moves are done without weights (although I kept my gloves on from Tae Bo) the second series of the standing moves are done with weights (one background exerciser uses a body bar, the other uses dumbbells). If you were so inclined you could do the whole workout either with or without weights. The second series repeats the exercises from the first series of standing moves. After the standing work, it is on to the floor for some traditional floor work moves -- donkey kicks, hydrants, etc. Again, nothing fancy, but if sure feels like it will do something for your butt! Many of the moves here are similar to Tae Bo floor work. The stretch is nice. There are two background exercisers (women) one had incredible leg definition. The instructor seems pleasant enough but sort of lacks personality. This is one I'm glad I didn't pay full price to own, but I still think it is a keeper - it moves quickly, it is straightforward, it doesn't require a whole lot (or any) equipment or space. After the Butt work I did the 10 min abs bonus that was on the DVD. I think this is taken from the Killer Abs workout - which I also own but haven't done in awhile. There are some potentially unsafe moves -- in this, so you need to be careful and modify. For the " V " sits, I wouldn't suggest using ankle weights, I think that is a back injury just waiting to happen. There is also anothe rmove where you lay flat on your back, lift your legs up and then twist your legs from side to side. I think this is potentially unsafe and I used the modification of a bent knee -- one of the background exercisers does this but the instructor does not mention it until you have already done a few reps. I would suggest modifying or eliminating this move. After Butt and Abs I did the 10 min Long & Lean Yoga bonus on Petra's Trainer's Edge tape. This is nothing fancy, a quick " flow " practice. Baron actually doesn't annoy me in this section. Even though I don't have a burning desire to own more of Baron's yoga workouts -- I'm sort of tempted to get this one (if I can find it somewhere CHEAP!) - it is a " set " thing I have, and since I have the others in the set, I feel that I need to have a complete set! LOL! Anyway, I have to run! Take care, Donna
