Carolyn,

What a great idea to do the workout like that! I am going to try it this

week! Thanks for the idea!

I am enjoying the options with this DVD. Today I did the Step portions of

the Body Fusion workout, and followed with the abs. It was just what I

needed!

& gt;

& gt;this morning i did the upper/lower and abs workouts on cathe's

& gt;beg/intermediate disc.

& gt;

& gt;first though, i did the warmup from 'basic step'... then i proceeded to

the

& gt;20 min upper body workout (which has no warmup of its own).

& gt;cathe uses resistance tubing for some of the sets, then picks up light

& gt;dumbells and does some more work of the same body parts.

& gt;this was actually my first time using tubing! and it was harder than i

& gt;thought it was going to be. cathe also adds some pulsing to really up

the

& gt;burn factor. she included most of the basic strength training moves for

the

& gt;upper body. before i knew it, this workout was over! short and sweet.

& gt;cathe also allows for some recovery time between exercises and also

throws

& gt;in a few quick stretches. she uses 3 pound dumbells... i started with

8's

& gt;but after using the tubing so much i had to go down to 5 pound dumbells

& gt;after a while. so i would say that this is a high rep/low resistance

& gt;workout -- but of course, it is easy to make the workout harder by using

& gt;heavier weights and choking up on the tubing. i had to play around

with my

& gt;tubing for a while before i could get the best amount of resistance out

of

& gt;it. there is a learning curve for everything! this workout is perfect

for

& gt;the beginner... and fine for the intermediate who wants to get in and

get it

& gt;done fast!

& gt;

& gt;next i did the 20 min lower body workout. again cathe uses the tubing

& gt;quite a bit but then picks up light dumbells for some additional reps.

she

& gt;also does some lower body exercises without weight... and uses the step

at

& gt;the end of the workout for some butt work (which i can really feel now

& gt;tonight!). again cathe adds some pulsing moves and the workout was

short

& gt;and sweet. cathe does a few quick stretches during the workout.

& gt;

& gt;after that i did the 10 min abs workout on the ball. i need to

experiment

& gt;with positioning on top the ball to get the most out of my crunches.

& gt;overall i really liked this quick ball workout -- i especially liked the

& gt;reverse crunches done by squeezing and lifting the ball with your calves

and

& gt;feet.

& gt;

& gt;for a cooldown, i turned to 'basic step' again for a short 3 min

stretch.

& gt;again, these are great workouts for beginners to strength training.

also

& gt;good to do because they are quick -- although by the time i put them

& gt;together and added a warmup/cooldown, i had done an hour workout.

& gt;im looking forward to doing these workouts again.

hi sarah - do you know what the deal is with the mix and match function on

this disc?

when i try to use it, it does the same thing as the chapter menu. which is

to simply play the menu item that i have selected. i dont know what is so

'mix and match' about that!! LOL. i was hoping to be able to blend all of

the chapters from all of the workouts on the disc together in any easy way

but apparently this disc doesnt have this capability and neither does my dvd

player. oh well. i just manually shuffled through the menus to get to

the chapters that i wanted, when i wanted them... there arent alot of menus

to deal with so it isnt a big deal.

Hi Carolyn

I must admit, I have never figured out the mix and match function on any of

Cathe's DVDs. The only difference I have found between mix and match and

chapters is that if you choose something from the mix and match menu, after

that particular chapter plays it returns to the menu. If you choose

something from the chapter menu, it plays until the end. Maybe my DVD player

is not fancy enough. Oh well. It's still so much easier than fast forwarding

through VHS so I don't mind:-)
