Model number comparison

While it is too late now, I just realized that the model I bought from QVC is

called Creations. While I usually overdo comparison shopping, I knew what an

approximate price would be and the QVC deal seemed unbeatable with free shipping

and 5 easy pays, so I treated myself. Right now I am totally happy with my

purchase, but is there a site that compares models? While mine is not a

professional model, how durable is it compared to others? Thanks.

Your machine is just like the 5200 except for the 5 year warranty (the 5200 has a 7-year warranty) and some minor cosmetic differences (the 5200 has a soft grip handle and the knobs and switches on the front have "soft grip" padding). That's it - only the warranty and some minor cosmetic differences. The motor and the performance of the two machines are the same.

A person can get a refurbished 5200 for $379 on a 3-payment plan and it comes with the same 7-year warranty as a new machine. Personally, I think the refurbished machine is a better deal than the Creations, but most people don't know about the refurbished machines or think that somehow they aren't as good as a new machine. You can't tell a refurb from a new machine when you open the box and with the warranty, personally I'd save the money and buy a refurb over a new 5200.

FYI - People who order through me get Free Shipping and I can get refurbs even when they aren't listed for sale on the Vitamix website.

I have to agree with Lea Ann on this one. Due to my own stupidity, I left a spoon in the container earlier this year and turned on the machine. Mind you, under the circumstances, the cost (about $25) of the replacement gear sprocket wasn't covered under warranty but the resulting damage to the bearings in the blade assembly WAS and the entire blade assembly of my six-year-old 5000 was replaced for free. I'd go spring for the refurb with the extra security of the full warranty, even though the likelihood of the machine's developing a problem on its own is pretty slim.

Well, hopefully mine will hold up. So far, as you can tell, I am loving it. I

have been talking it up at school where I work. Thank you so much for your

input. Hopefully, the cosmetic differences will also hold up.

My 5000 doesn't have the soft-touch controls or the container with the soft grip. No problems whatsoever. :)

I'm sure that it will hold up just fine. The cosmetic differences will have no effect on the performance of the machine at all.

Thanks for "talking up the Vitamix" Please send your friends my way when it comes time to order :-)
