Yay! I did a video like I said I would!!

Tonite's adventure was Yoga Conditioning for Women, with Suzanne Deason.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I like Suzanne Deason herself,

and she does this practice outdoors near the beach. Since this

workout is for women, she does a few things to me that seem woman

focused. For example, over the sacral chakra (located in the lower

abdomen, centered between the navel and the genitals and is the vortex

of change, emotion, pleasure and movement) She makes the yonic symbol

of the inverted triangle with her hands, which I interpret as

emphasizing the feminine but also as a reminder to engage the core and

to feel centered.

What I like most about this video is the variety of poses, and the

fact that some of them are quite advanced: half moon, revolved

triangle, standing splits, just to name a few. The poses are fluid,

and flow into one another very well. This practice is divided into

breathing exercises, standing poses, twists & backbends, and

restorative poses.

What I dislike most is that she moves through the poses too fast to

reap the benefit from them. This is not an ashtanga practice where

the emphasis is on the vinyasa, or flow (which often moves fast and

you can work up quite a sweat). It's a hatha yoga practice that is

well put together, but is rushed.

My other huge peeve with this is that were I beginner, this would have

been overwhelming. Get this: modifications for this are SHOWN AT THE

END of te video! Wrong, wrong, wrong!

For this reason I don't rank this one very high (remember, I'm a

tough grader)

Pink Pussycat's Rating: 5 (just average)
