I made up the following batch of soap. It makes about 8 pounds.

45 ounces sunflower oil

10 ounces coconut oil

25 ounces soybean oil

10 ounces vegetable lard

10 ounces olive oil

13 ounces lye

34 ounces water

Stirred to medium trace.

After it had sat for a few days and got relatively hard, I took three pounds

of it and cut into smaller pieces and put into a pot with 1 cup 85 proof

alcohol and melted it down, it did start to seize on me so I added about 1

cup water to it, when it was all melted I added 1 cup sugar dissolved in

water, and molten hot, and 8 ounces glycerin. Stirred it while heating to a

light trace and poured it, I am going to have crystal clear glycerin soap

from it. I looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!.

I also took all my soap scraps about 3 lbs.and melted them with 1 1/2 cups

alcohol, added 8 ounces dissolved sugar in molten state, and 6 ounces of

glycerin. They were all colors, and I hate throwing anything away, so I

thought might as well try it, I ended up with black glycerin soap, to this I

added crayons that I had chopped up very finely. It is so pretty.

I got the idea about melting all my scraps from the net at a sight for

making clear glycerin soap, by Kathy M.

I also have made my own lye calculator on a spread sheet, which was really

easy to do. The above recipe I put through my calculator and then also

checked it at MMS lye calculator, and they were real close, the only

difference I think was the amount of water, but not by too much.

Also from what Kathy said in her article I should be able to melt this

glycerin a few times allowing me to do just about anything I want with it,

which is great, as I can not get glycerin base here in Holland.

I just had to share.

Thanks
