Guest guest
Medtronic, Guidant and St Jude tend to be the top three here in the USA. Did you have your ICD implanted outside of the US? Mine has to be replaced soon, and I will continue with Medtronic as they are best known worldwide. Good luck to you. ~guin HELLO EVERY ONE. I AM NEW TO THE BOARD. JUST WONDERING IF I COULD HEAR FROM ANYONE WITH ELA BRAND OF ICD? I LIVE IN ARIZONA AND HAVE HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT INTERROGATEED. MY EP SAYS IT IS LACK OF COMPANY REPS IN THE STATE. TOOK 3 DAYS LAST TIME I VISITED THE HOSPITAL. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Guest guest
hi james, i also have cardiomyopathy and started this nightmare in march of 2001. i went into the hospital with viral pneumonia and went into v-tach one evening while having my dinner... had no idea,,, i had often felt a fluttering in my chest and forced a cough to be rid of it. long story short, implant done in march 2002, e.f. of 10, two zaps first two weeks,,, none since. my e.f. is now 45 and the doc attributes it to 12.5 mgs of coreg twice a day and 5 mgs of altace. and i also take the cocktail of about 15 pills am and 6 pm. due to bad hips i went into a wheelchair 95% of the time a year ago. and gained 100 lbs... i am now at 340 and really paying for it... it seems my meds have more calories than i need for the day. im going in for a new hip on the 16th so i'll sign off then for a month.... docs arent worried about the surgery.,.,...worried more about the anesthesia. ill need some prayers that day. im hoping to be rid of the chair and get my tail out there and walk walk walk.. believe me when i say this.... no exercise sucks. check the coreg and altace with your doc..... im pretty sure they likke the max dose to be 25 mgs twice a day but i can only tolerate 12.5 good luck my friend,, bobby in missippi
Guest guest
This is from their website: USA ELA Medical Inc. 2950 Xenium Lane North. Plymouth, MN 55441 Tel. : 1 763 519 9400 Fax : 1 763 519 9440 info@... I think if I were you I would try e-mailing to that addy and ask you questions. See what kind of response you get. I e-mailed Guidant about a technical question and they were very good about getting back to me. Hopefully your company will be too. Bridget > GUIN, > NO IT WAS DONE RIGHT HERE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA. I KNOW THAT ELA IS A FRENCH COMPANY. I CANT FIND MUCH INFO ON THEM. EVEN ON THIER OWN WEB-SITE. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. EP SAYS IT IS A GOOD DEVICE. BUT..... SAID THERE HAD BEEN RUMORS TO THE EFFECT THAT CERTAIN DOCS WERE BEING OFFERED KICKBACKS FOR INSTALLING THEM. OF COURSE HE ALSO ADDED THAT HE DIDNT TELL ME THAT.JUST RUMOR. I IMAGINE HE ADDDED THAT FOR LIABILITY REASONS. I CANT EVEN GET AHOLD OF THE DOCTOR THAT INSTALLED IT. THANKS,JAMES >
Guest guest
Hello Everyone: Sorry I have not posted in a while. First of all I want to welcome all the BBS'ers that just got here. You are all welcome. Jon Duffy was kind enough to make me a moderator so if you need any help I am here for you. This is for the people that have known me a while. Finally after three years of unemployment (first year was intentional because of ICD) I have found a terrific wall street Job with less stress an awesome benefits (thank god It pays well too). I was going out of my mind but now I am ecstatic. Thanks for putting up with me during the unemployed time. Still love ya'll.
