today i have lost the auction for gilad's quick fit system. oh well

!! so im back to waiting until the end of the year to see what new dvd's

gilad is going to be selling. i will still be getting 'the new best of

bodies in motion' on vhs from ebay so that, along with donnas recordings

from fit-tv, will keep me going with gilad for a while :) anyway, im off

to do a much different rotation and wont be doing gilad for some time, so i

shouldnt even be thinking about it! LOL

i did not feel like doing any lunges, squats, bicep curls, etc today so i

did one of the floor aerobic workouts from charlene prickett's 'stand up

and be some body' dvd.

i have to say right away that i really enjoy low impact aerobics. with

asthma, i just cant do high-impact moves and doing cardio like that becomes

unpleasant quickly. so im very thankful that people like charlene put out

low impact workouts that work for me. after doing 20 mins of low impact

with charlene and her two friends today, i was sweaty, breathing heavily

and smiling :)

charlene's friends have microphones so they count reps and chat and give

form pointers along with charlene. they workout on a completely white

background so you can really see their bodies and what they are doing

quite clearly. the white is a bit boring though when the choreography is

not difficult -- at times it would have been nice to have something else to

rest the eyes on during the routine. but overall i thought that this was

a solid fat-burner that used simple steps combined with big leg and arm

movements to up the cardio factor. and i was pleased to then have charlene

take about 8 minutes (which is alot!) to stretch out the legs afterward. i

think that she could have done another aerobic combination in 3 of those

minutes and stretched for only 5 mins, but it was ok since there is another

workout, like this one, on the dvd! LOL.

i didnt do that one today though as i am severely time crunched. i

shouldnt be sitting here now but wanted to post while my memory was fresh.

will be back to chat later!

Thanks for the review, Carolyn! I feel myself caving on her three new ones,

but I'll have to wait a while. I really like Charlene's low impact, I have

quite a few - Start Your Engines and Low Impact, High Intensity are both one

hour programs. LI/HI is filmed outdoors which is nice. I have her No

Equipment Needed which has a nice 1/2 hour low impact routine and I also

have her Cardio FatBurner or Cross trainer or something like that - it has a

1/2 hour step and a 1/2 hour low impact routine - these are both filmed

outdoors, which is nice. Have you tried Crazy for Step yet? That one is

tough, long, but it doesn;t have some of the " dread " factor taht Cathe can

have.

Great review, Carolyn!

I have plantar faciitis and metatarsalgia (i.e. feet

trouble) so I too appreciate a lower impact aerobics

routine that still manages to work the large muscles

groups and get the heart rate up. I'll have to try

this one!

Power Stretch with Cole is good too! The name

is misleading, it's more like world dance but with a

fitness focus.

Personally I appreciate an 8 minute cooldown just for

legs. My hamstrings get so tight from all the

exercise I do, the more stretching the better!

Thanks again for your time in reviewing!
