Guest guest
hi mike, gee guy, how about lightning up a bit. I dont know what happened to us lately. a lot of older members arent posting anymore. and for me,,, it is getting just a wee bit serious. we agreed long before you came on the scene that if we had something funny or serious or off the heart problems we could post and put social in the subject, that way if you dont want to look at it you can delete. we had a good thing going for a long time and i for one would like to see it come back. and i might add the social thing in the subject line was suggested by none other than mr duffy, the starter of all of this entire web site. believe me,,, a wee bit of humor works.... and i for one enjoyed the french thing.... as for the way they think of the u.s. now is horrible.... they have forgotten how many or our boys died saving their tails 60 years ago. watch the " longest day " and youll see what i mean. bobby in missippi..... Guest guest
Bob, For the most part I agree with you. I hate not being able to chat. However, the spam that came two messages before the France one bugs me. I don't allow it on any of the lists I run. As soon as someone posts something like that they are set to moderated status. For the most part these are professional spammers joining groups just to post their speil. As for the political one, I disagree with the sentiment expressed in it. I have some pretty forceful political views and for the sake of peace on the list, I won't challenge the information and logic in that post. Guest guest
I agree with Bob We are taking ourselves to serously sometimes and its detracting from the good alot of you do for other people. Humor and a little political commentary won't hurt nothing and might be interesting. The bottom line is don't ruin a good thing over something that really is not that important in the long run. The board is to important for that Just my 2 cents Bill + ZeusRJS <BobbyJ85@...> wrote: hi mike, gee guy, how about lightning up a bit. Guest guest
Bill and Bob, Okay, I got the message. I AM too serious. It's one of my personality defects. But I have the strong feeling that if I expressed what I believed about Iraq, the U.S. and the rest of the world, I'd probably get tarred and feathered (figuratively). It has to do with point of view. Regarding my seriousness, I recall a scene from the film " 's Daughter " about the young daughter of an Irish pub owner marrying an old school master. Being young and in her prime, she had an affair with a young British officer. The town expressed their displeasure by shearing off her long hair, inadvertently tearing her dress. The stiff-jawed local priest storms up the hill and confronts the instigator and punches him in the face. The guy says, " Father, you're taking advantage of your collar. " The priest replies, " That's what it's for! " That priest was my model and shaped my work in the church. In the end, my seriousness did me in and probably contributed to my out-of-control hypertension. (See? I can relate this to the topic.) I ended up working with the local police department as chaplain and rangemaster (Huh? Yeah, I am NOT a non-violent religious) until heart failure nearly ended my career. Since then, I've tried to live more sedately, but the whole Iraq thing has churned me up and I'm struggling not to get enraged and spit. Some of that may have come from the accident of my birth in an American concentration camp. Who knows? In any event, y'all are right...it is good to keep the levity on the . Humor is healing. Bob, you've been especially good at this. Keep reminding us all that there is life in Mississippi. Guest guest
Rest assured, you would not be the only one wearing feathers. I'm trying not to get too involved in it because my heart is pretty tochy right now (can't wait for surgery). But it's really hard to staysedate when I see my country going to heck in a handbag as my kids put it. Bridget > > hi mike, > > > > > > gee guy, how about lightning up a bit.
