WELCOME to the group. As I said to Dave this is a good group of people. Once in a will Bill pops in with a joke or two. So you can see we also have a sense of humor. The support when needed is great here also. Our official greater is amongst the missing so once again I say, Welcome to the group.

Newbie and my introduction

Hello to all, I HAD to join this group because I LOVE the name of it. It's funny to see it written like that (just not all that thrilling when it fires!) I am a 38 year old female and I live on the coast of Ma. I come from a family with a dominent gene for dilated cardiomyopathy with potentially lethal arrythmias. My 29 year old brother died suddenly 11 years ago. My mom has had ticker problems for as long as I can remember, but once my brother passed, we had the rest of the family tested and fouind the gene in others. So, I guess if you can find something positive about my brother passing so young its that the rest of us had our eyes opened to this crummy disease. Since his death this gene was found in 4 other family members. My mother, her brother and another brother of mine have all had heart transplants. My sister and I have the implanted defib's. We had hoped it stopped with our generation, but it has since been found in my 12 year old niece. We will not tell her as of yet, I can hear it now...I can't go to school cause my heart hurts :-). Her MD's are all aware and we are keeping a close eye on her. Unfortunately, I can go into heart failure easy, I'm sure that probably goes for just about everyone here. I also have Lupus. It's been tricky balancing my illnesses and all the meds that go along with them. I have had to stop working as an RN just recently due to my symptoms. I have to take immunosuppresive meds, needless to say, its not a good idea to work around all those germs. I DO have a wonderful bedside manner because of being on both sides of the bed. I don't wish illness on anyone, but I think a lot of healthcare providers could benefit from a visit to the other side of a stethescope. Well, I have gone on long enuf and have probably bored u to tears. Thanks for listening and God Bless, PamPlease visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org
