Hi Bridget,

You want Dr. Toby Cosgrove at the Cleveland Clinic to do your mitral valve repair, he's the best in the country. How I know, he did mine.

Ken

Bridget's heart cath

Well, I've had my cath. The leaky valve is as bad as or worse thanthey thought from the echo. They never were able to get a good lookat the amount of leakage because it's doing the swirly thing, thecath with dye, showed them exacty. In the words of my cardio,Leakage you could see from across the room."He ran my case past the surgeon in his group and they decided that Ineed to go to Cleveland Clinic to get the right sirgeon for thisjob. They want me to have a valve repair instead of replacementbecause (and I didn't know this before) I have an orange sizedanurism on my left ventrical. A valve replacement will compromisethe ventrical more than a repair and since the ventrical already haseproblems, they want to minimize that. So, as soome as the surgeon upthere reviews my case, I will be heading that way, hopefully soonerrather than later because I really don't want to go through thesummer this tired.BridgetPlease visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org

I am so glad you have found the answers and will be on the road to recovery. You must feel a whole lot better knowing what you are dealing with and knowing it can repaired by the best! I know you are anxious with the surgery but you will be in good hands. I have always heard it is best to repair the valves vs. replacing.

Good luck, guin

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the info. My Cardio is insisting on Dr. Lytle at the

Cleveland Clinic. He says he is the best for this particular

surgery. I am having a repair, but I'm also having an aneurectomy

too. So, I suspet this will NOT be minimally invasive.

I'm waiting to hear from Lytle today. It might be a month or two

before they can get me on the schedule, but I'm hoping for sooner.
