Welcome to the list, K.

My son (15) also showed ocd symptoms from infancy. The girls (9

and 13) have less obvious ocd symptoms so its hard to say when they

started. They all have ocd and depression.

Where are you?

HI :

Welcome to the list. There are lots of us who are OCD

parents with anger and even physical aggression issues here. Does your

daughter get CBT for her OCD? My son has had severe OCD too and the CBT

was, in his case, much more effective than meds in helping him get his OCD

more under his control.

Hi' my name is Beth, my husband and I adopted our granddaughter. She was a

wonderful baby, always happy. When she was 4 she started with her underpants

not working, that's all she could tell us.We did everything we could to help

her ,we bought so many kinds,I made some, you name it and we did it.We took

her to see a DR.who said it was OCD I guess I just didn't believe it(this

was in Aug.) We went to the DR a few times but I just didn;t see much good

come from it .I worked with that winter and she did pretty good, than last

Aug. without any warning ,I went to get her dressed to go away and she was

naked, she said she couldn't go because nothing would work. With in 2 hrs. it

was all back, this time we took her to see a child psychiatrist who put her

on zolft and for 6months it was wonderful. After Christmas it all started to

come back, this time it was all clothing, socks, her hair and when things are

real bad it's the sheet on the bed.She sometimes has problems getting out of

the bath tub because she feels sticky-- you better have the powder ready

!She is now going to be 6 the end of May and is in P-K 3hrs. every day.She

has missed so much school; a week right after Christmas, we had to take her

to the DR. naked. This is the hardest thing I ever been through,I cry all the

time .We can't go anywhere because she can't get dressed. When she does go

to school it's with a long dress on and no underpants . we took her to

a new DR last week Ihad such high hopes,he said there was some adhd. Her

teacher said she just doesn't see it at school. So now she is taking 75mg.of

zoloft and he added 75mg. of Welllbutin.I HAVE SEEN NO CHANGE WHATSOEVER.She

had a bad week and so did I.I'm 52 and going through the change of life, mix

that with OCD and it make for fun .Other than the clothes things she is

happy as a lark. some days I just don't think I'm going to make it.The one

thing I have found out is parents are the most help. God Bless You All.PS we

live in Auburn,In not much help here at all (to see the other DR. we have to

drive 2 1/2 hrs.

Hi ,

My husband and I were just commenting tonight

about how our 6 year old son is so sensitive to

certain clothing items and the way they touch his

skin. We have to cut the tags out of all his

clothing including his undies. However he can use

the bathroom and pull his undies and pants up so

crooked that it gives him a wedgie and his

wasteband is folded over a few times. Now that

doesn't bother him....drives me nuts! All this

is because of his anxieties and obsessions about

parts of our house and things behind doors being

scarey. He can use the potty faster than anyone

I know and run out to the front of the house

pulling his pants up while he runs. If it wasn't

so sad it would be hilarious. I just hope for

the day that he loses his fears of doors and what

is on the other side of them.

hi Beth. welcome to the Ocd group.I just joined too and it is good to know

others are out there. I remember my son and school struggles two years ago.

He would shower( at least 30 to 60 Min.), get dressed, but could NOT put his

shoes on, it was so frustrating......he missed alot of school. He is really

bright and I knew he would be O.K. academically but now 2 yrs later his

school attendance is good but he has trouble concentrating on homework. I

can relate to the mid-life changes......my menopause kicked in two years

ago....early, I'm now 45. I feel it is from stress dealing with my son and

his ocd. I eat roasted soy beans and take lots of calcium. The trick is to

stay emotionally out of my sons behavior and try to stay calm and COPE.

Good Luck to you.

Hi ,

As I sit here reading all the notes I find myself laughing. Maybe I

shouldn't, but some of the things are what I find my daughter doing.

She don't use a top sheet when sleeping. Sometimes she will sleep in the

clothing that she has warn during the day. Her pj's feel dirty.

I really have to be careful what her clothing touch after I wash them. If

they touch something she thinks is dirty, I have to rewash them because she

will never wear them or touch them. It is kind of strange how some things

don't bother her that we think would and other things do that we don't

understand why. It is hard to keep up with sometimes. It keeps me on my

toes. I have to keep reminding my husband and son.

What a challenge!

Hi to all who are new here: Being a parent of an ocd child is very tough.

It has some highs and some lows. We all know how it feels to want so badly

to " cure " your child. Its so hard to see them struggle and know that they

always will. My child is l6 years old and right at this moment (this exact

minute, because I only go day by day) she seems to be a normal child. Right

now she is at drivers ed with a bunch of other l6 year olds. She socializes

and has friends and boyfriends. She is also on a 24 hour heart monitor

because she is experiencing a rapid heart rate. The dr. thinks it could be

the prozac. Unfortunately we will probably have to try another medication

now. Its hard at times but I guess what we all share is a love of our

children. Obviously, we are all concerned parents who care. If anyone has

had a similar experience with prozac with their child, please write me.

Yay! A local person! I live in Surrey. My goal weight is 150 too,

and I started out at 202 as well! I've got 10 left to go, I'm almost

there. This program really does work.

Hey, that's great!! How long did it take you to get to 160? What

were the results from each of your challenges?

I've been really slow... I started late last December. I've only

discovered BFL in the last couple months, it really kick started my

progress, I've lost about 15 more pounds since I began. I wish I had

found it last year, I'd be long done by now!

Our gathering is on July 12 and it is going to be held on the west side of

Rochester this year. I hope you can make it! Some people think im nuts for

making soap to so I guess we all have to support each other LOL.

To introduce myself back to you.. Im Shaye, and I live in Ontario which is

about 20 minutes east of Rochester. Been soaping for about 5 years or so...

I think.. time goes bye fast.

Welcome!

Hi everyone. Just thought I should intrioduce myself. My name is

I think I like it but usually end up hating it :P Anyway, I hear

there are gatherings around here very once and awhile and

told me to join, so here I am :)

Besides soaping, I am a full time student in chemistry (I actually

make soap in the lab a lot) and my animals take up most of my time.

I have three ADORABLE hedgehogs and they are truely my life :)

Can't wait to hear about these gatherings. People thought I was nuts

for attending hedgehog shows, can't wait to hear what they say when I

say I'm going to saop gatherings as well :)

great to be able to put faces with the names of people you talk to on the

Hi, I'm Leanne from Vancouver, B.C. and bought a VM last week after watching

demos for many years. I'm really enjoying the VM but seem to get stuck on the

same things because they're so good !! I need to experiment more.

What I would really like to make is a great carrot juice. Most of the recipes

I've seen call for very little carrot or they start with " carrot juice " .

Another piece of advice I need is - can you put a rind from the parmesan cheese

in a soup recipe? I usually do in homemade soup - just for the flavor and take

the rind out before eating it. Has anyone ever used the rind?

I know I will enjoy this group and look forward sharing with all of you.

Cheers,

Leanne

Hi again and thanks for the advice.  I don't think I'm ready to start using the mylk bag thing (yet) and I don't want to buy a juicer.   I was looking more for a recipe that had lots of carrots in it.  I know that I will have to put some other fruits or vegetables in also but I wanted something mainly carrot and don't know if there is anything out there.  When I do a google search I always get Blendtec people.  When I  bought my VM I asked the VM guy about a carrot juice (drink) and he made a very tasty one for me but it only had 1 carrot.  Maybe I will have to experiment on my own and post a recipe if I can come up with something good.  Fortunately my husband eats and drinks all of my mistakes.  I tell him that things will get better :).

The problem is that carrots are very fibrous so you're going to end up

with one seriously pulpy drink if you use many of them. FWIW, if you're

going to use carrots in a beverage, make sure to peel them and remove

the tops and tips (especially if there's any softness). Unlike

potatoes, there's not much (if any) nutrition to be found in carrot

skin and your concoctions will taste much better without it and the

aforementioned tops 'n' tails.
