Guest guest
I also have spent a lot of time in close proximity to slot machines over the last ten years and never had any problem with them. I also have played with remote cars and planes, (Probably a bigger risk) also with no problems. Never hurts to ask your doctor and ICD rep. though. Dave News Link. Hi all, Found this article and thought some may be interested. A short quote from the article is bellow, also the link for the complete article for those who are interested. Dave Study could be a jolt for ICDs Janet , Star Tribune March 8, 2004 "The American College of Cardiology meeting in New Orleans today will be the results of a landmark study that could affect thousands of patients suffering from heart failure." Company executives, financial analysts and physicians are anxiously awaiting the release of the Sudden Cardiac Death in Heart Failure Trial, particularly as it relates to the use of implantable defibrillators (ICDs). http://www.startribune.com/stories/535/4646105.html Please visit the Zapper homepage at http://www.ZapLife.org Please visit the Zapper homepage at http://www.ZapLife.org Please visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org
Guest guest
http://www.guidant.com/patient/living/ That's the link. And Turk, who was it that though the device was a truck backing up outside her house really close? One of the women here, but I forget who. I suspect it was because you were standing stationery in the magnetic field of the security system. When you pass straight through, it is not harmful at all, but remaining there for more than a second or two can be a problem. And about the Slots thing; The Guidant site says they are safe as long as you maintain a 12 " distance between the machine and your device. Someone else already said it, DON'T HUG THE SLOTS! Guidant and The HeartCenter Inline disagree about a couple of other things too. Most notably, Airport Security. According to Guidant the walk through metal detector is safe, but it will go off. It's the hand wanding that can be a problem. And Amusement park rides are safe accoording to Guidant, although, I think I'd stay off the Dragster at Cedar Point anyway. I think the best thing to do is read, read, read. Get all of the liturature your devcice's manufacturer has to offer and study it well. Ask you doc or the tech rep if you don't understand something. We have to be cautious by nature because of our various problems and our ICDs, but there is no reason to make life unnecessarily complicated (or boring). Guest guest
" My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. " Psalm 73:26 Re: Re: Slot machines Beeping came from my grandsons when his battery was down to about two months life remaining too Re: Re: Slot machines Hi Turk, That is a pretty strange experience you had. My first device started beeping on me once in the mid 90s. I was at work and was near a high voltage source. I found out after that my device would beep if it was exposed to magnetism for a period of time and if it turned into a constant ring, (For 10 or so seconds, then silent) my device was inactivated. I am not familiar with your device but it may be something similar. And I agree, it is a unnerving thing to have happen. But is probably a good safety feature to have. I would ask your Doctor about it and then let us know what he tells you. Dave in Maine Please visit the Zapper homepage at http://www.ZapLife.org --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
