I was working for Walmart before Old Man Walton died, and it was a COMPLETELY different company!!! It was run as a tight ship, with emphasis on cleanliness, customer service, and service with a smile. American made meant a lot to Mr.Walton. I had to practically get a dispensation from God when I was pregnant to be able to wear the big stretchy-loose pants because they looked too much like sweats (that were not part of the dress code then). Same with Hechinger's hardware store. The Senior Hechinger dies, left it to his son, who didn't keep up, and now it is gone. Used to be the best & only neighborhood hardware store around.
