Guest guest
Yes, the Coreg - I forgot to mention that after a couple of years of taking the Coreg my blood pressure was ranging too low - I was normally 90/70, but I would drop lower than that -- My Doc didn't want to cut the Coreg (I am on Max dose), but he cut my Prinivil - that helped and I am still on 25mg 2x per day with the Coreg - just cut the Prinivil in 1/2 to 10mg once perday. My Cardio also frefers to this drug as the miracle drug. ~guin coreg hi turk and all,,shortly after i was implanted it was suggested i see a heart failure specialist in philly as there were none in my town.after my checkup with the new guy he mentioned that he couldnt believe that i wasnt taking coreg.. he called it a miracle drug.then after moving to mississippi....my first visit to the heart guy here, he said "someone is on the ball up north...i see they have you on coreg""never did take toprol.... ive not had any side effects with the exception that i cant tolerat the max dose of 25 mgs twice a day,,,ive had to stick with half.. the whole dose turns me into a zombie with a forty heart rate.hope ive helped,,,, bob in missippiPlease visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org
Guest guest
Thanks everyone. I was told that maybe i should be taking coreg instead of Toprol but my EPS specialist said i does not have the same electrical properties as toprol so i am baffled on what to do.It had been three years since i got shocked (knock on wood) i dont want to take a chane but i think i have traces of CHF so if it gets worse i know i will be getting VT and getting shocked so i am between rock and a hard place any ideas? TURK RE: coreg I tried Coreg and was not able to tolerate it at a minimum dose. They then put me on a small dose of Toprol (12 mg.) and progressed it over 6 months to 100 mg (I take two 50 mg. tabs per day.) They also turned up the pacemaker to get my heart rate into the 60's so that I could tolerate the meds. My CHF doctor said they put the pacemaker in so my heart rate could be increased to tolerate therapeutic doses of all the meds, seems to be working! I have not had any problems for over a year now with any of the different medications they have me on. I take most of my meds twice a day (1/2 dose in the morning and 1/2 dose in the evening) - I can't tolerate any of them at full dose once a day. Guest guest
My hubby was on Toporal between the time he had his 2nd bypass surgery and the time he went into VT, and that is when they put in the defib. It was at that time that they also started him on Coreg, and built up the dosage so he now takes the max. dosage. He does well on it, although he is tired by evening, but that could be Altace also. He take the Coreg and Altace. That was one year ago to the week he had the bypass surgery, and the beginning of May will mark a year with the ICD. Only one shock, but that was when he was they first started him on Coreg, a week after the ICD was implanted...so the dosage was low. He also has CHF, but it not having symptoms and seems to be doing pretty darn good, condidering. Hope this helps. audi RE: coreg I tried Coreg and was not able to tolerate it at a minimum dose.
