First of all, this message should have been sent privately. But since it touches on an area I have researched for another list, I feel I should respond. > This is much less than the large aromatherapy company is being charged for > stealing my work. Are you sure this information was " stolen " ? Was it not on a publicly-accessible website, rather than a pay site? If you didn't want the information relayed, why did you post it on the Internet? > Please consult your lawyer when you receive the invoice. He will tell you > the BEST you can hope for is to negotiate lower payment, because you most > definitely owe me for the use of my intellectual property. Sorry. There has been an ongoing argument on another board about what is considered " copyrighted " and what falls under the " Fair Use " clause of the US. Copyright law. If the material that you claim to have been " stolen " was used for the purpose of education or information, then you might want to reconsider demanding payment for it's use. It will very probably wind up costing much more in legal fees to prove otherwise. > it's a BIG mistake commenting that german chamomile is the oil you use in > your grandbaby's baby oil, when you aren't old enough to have grandchildren! Age has nothing to do with this one, Marge...just about every Aromatherapy book I own recommends this oil in particular as beneficial to babies' skin! > If you need to steal someone else's research, at LEAST have the courtesy to > reword it. It's too late now to change it...I have a copy of it printed > out, and saved to hard drive. Complete with your name, address, and phone > number. And please, for the record, tell us where YOU got your information from? Tisserand? Lavabre? Valnet? Last time I checked, their work was copyrighted, also. Kind of a vicious circle, huh? Guest guest
This discussion is over. It will NOT continue on this list. Please understand me. I have extremely strong views on plagiarism. I have no patience for it whatsoever. I do not know, nor do I wish to know, the details of this situation, so don't discuss them with me. But from this point out, this will either be carried out privagely, or in court. But it will NOT be carried out on this list. If I see another post on this subject, the author will be unsubscribed and banned without discussion or prior notice. I will not tolerate a bnattle on this list, whatever the issue, or the merits of the fight. We have enough battles in our lives, we don't need them in our inboxes.
