This morning I did Cathe's Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps, which is

volume 2 in her Pure Strength series.

Overall, I was a little disappointed. Cathe herself is wonderful

and has good cues, but I didn't really feel the workout. I did use

heavy and challenging weights, but we only did two sets of ten for

the most part. For other strength workouts I'm used to doing three

sets with more reps. I guess I'll try to go even heavier next

time!

The workout started with two sets of 10 pushups, then bench presses

(barbell), chest flys and chest presses (dumbells), and seated

lateral presses. Next were shoulders, the usual exercises - rear

delts, lateral raises, etc, then triceps again with the usual

exercises.

For this type of workout I much prefer the Firm's Upper Body tape I

tried a couple weeks ago. It fried me.

I'll do the other two volumes in the Pure Strength series over the

next couple of days. It wasn't a bad workout or anything, just

average.

yep, you get to go really heavy with these workouts to get failure by the

time you reach the end of the 2nd 10.

when i get a barbell i will also want heavy workouts like these so that i

can alternate one/two weeks slow & heavy lifting with one/two weeks

fast & light. but still it is disappointing to hear that she just does the

same old basic exercises... sounds kind of routine and boring. is there

music to listen to, at least? and does cathe lift some ridiculously high

amt of weight for entertainment value?
