Guest guest
Hi All, While I did get a response (almost a form letter type response)we will see what else they have to say. I am proud of those that took the time to write because they are getting mail about it (as they should). Kathy Everett, Thank you for writing, we have a number of emails regarding this subject. Your message has been forwarded to the general manager, as he needs to hear from their local listeners. ___________________________ Anita C. Clear Channel Communications t-shirt I am writing about the t-shirt that Rock 96 in Atlanta is promoting about Special Olmpics and being " retarded " . I am offended and saddened to think that people could be so insensitive to the feelings of others. I have a child who is " retarded " and she has participated in Special Olympics for many years now. Special Olympics have provided her with a venue where she is successful and has helped to build her self-esteem. While there is no doubt she is still " retarded " as the t-shirt you are promoting states, she feels a great deal of accomplishment after competing in Special Olympics. I also teach students that participate in Special Olympics and can verify the wonderful feelings they demonstrate during and after the games. While you have the right to say what you want and promote what you want, I would like to think you possess more social responsibility. Promoting a t-shirt that is degrading is irresponsible. You have the social responsiblity to help decrease prejudice. I hope you see that you made a poor choice in selecting and promoting this t-shirt and will remove it from your web site.
