Guest guest
Hi all! I was just looking over the DRAFT copy of Jordan's IEP for the next school year and I have found something that I know many of you might be familiar with and was wondering exactly how to approach this issue in tomorrow's meeting. In Jordan's CURRENT IEP, it's stated that she spends less than 21% outside of the reg. ed. classroom. However, THIS new IEP, it now reads that she will spend 21 - 60% OUTSIDE the reg. ed. classroom. I do not want this. I want her to remain in the LRE as possible. They are stating the reasons for this is: Due to the need for specially designed instruction in reading, writing, spelling and math, Jordan will not participate in these subjects in the regular education classroom. She is obviously capable of learning. So what I don't understand is why they wouldn't want to keep her in the reg. ed. setting and just modify the curric. It CAN be done, so how do I argue that point and make it effective? Judi - Proud mother to Jordan 7, ds and Savannah 6 Months, nda Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.
