Guest guest
I realized that yesterday the back of my throat was burning after drinking my smoothie. As some of you know, I have had 3 different cancers over the past 12 years and one was treated with chemo and radiation to the head and neck which included my mouth last year. I never lose my taste buds which is very unusual (but I am a very unique patient to say the least ~ no need to bore anyone). I never could (when I was well) eat pineapple too much as it burned my tongue. Now that I have an extremely sensitive tongue and no saliva due to radiation, I realized that the back of my throat was probably burning because of the pineapple. So today I did a test and eliminated the pineapple and no burning. YEA!!!Here was my combo for today:3/4 cup white grape peach juice4 dates1/2 cup? quinoa (which I make for my breakfast with a tiny bit of brown sugar, chopped walnuts and lots of cinnamon)1 fresh peach that I froze the night before1/2 frozen banana5 frozen strawberries1 zucchini2 hunks of cabbagehandful of spinach4 huge romaine leavesNice light green color and I really tasted the peach and cinnamon!  Sounds like alot of natural sugar, eh?I am hoping that the quinoa serves as a good protein to help with the lull that I have been feeling a hour of so after drinking my smoothie due to the lack of protein and a fat....Has anyone tried to use about 1 T. of olive oil as a fat source?
