Leisa,

I use Coconut Oil in my Smoothies.  What I do is put about 1 ½ tsp

 - up to 1 TBLS in a small glass jar.  Then put the glass jar in a larger

container half filled with hot water.

Let it sit for a few minutes – it does not take long to liquefy.

After most of the smoothie is mixed – I add the coconut

oil while the Vita Mix is going  - right at the end.

Most of the time the speed keeps the coconut oil from solidifying

again.  Or at least keeping the ‘lumps’ small and to a minimum.

Adding the solid coconut oil to the smoothie did not work for me

– I had chunks in the smoothie – yech – kept thinking I had

ground up a cherry pit.

I did try adding it to hot tea – did not like.  Sheen of

oil on top of my tea.

Adding the Coconut Oil to my Smoothie made a huge difference for

me – It is now one of my must haves, along with adding Cinnamon (to help

manage Blood Sugars)

Subject: Coconut Oil

For those of you that add Coconut Oil to your

green smoothie, exactly how do you do that? Since at room temperature it is

solid, do you just scoop out the desired amount and add to the Vitamix along

with the greens & fruit? Or do you need to liquify it first? If you are

using frozen fruit, does this cause an issue with it soldifying again? Or is

there another way to consume Coconut Oil that is your favorite?

I use coconut oil in my green smoothies and add it in the middle of the greens. Before I started doing it that way a lot of it was getting stuck to the sides of the container.

I also love it on my oatmeal. And I use it to saute pineapple and shrimp, then add some Braggs liquid animos for a teriyaki type dish.

Thank you both for giving me suggestions on how to add Coconut Oil. I had not

thought of these methods! Can't wait to give them a try!
