What does a vegan do if they have a bug in their house? or a mouse? or mosquitoes?

I garden organically but when I get a hornworm on my tomatoes, I smash the rascal with a rock, if that small parasitic wasp hasn't already laid eggs in him. I seriously want to know how vegans handle all those little pests.

This is how it was explaind to me:

The difference between vegans and nonvegans, however, is the element of intent. Vegans consciously strive to do no harm to any sentient life, including insects. This does not mean that vegans do not hurt others inadvertently, but that it is never their aim to do so.

To collect honey, beekeepers must temporarily remove a number of the bees from their home. During the course of bee management and honey collection, even the most careful beekeeper cannot avoid inadvertently injuring, squashing, or otherwise killing some of the bees. Other commodities may be taken from the hive as well, including beeswax, honeycomb, pollen, propolis, and royal jelly.

Personally,well when I was a vegan, I killed the suckers, :o)

It is good that you do not kill the hornworm when it is loaded with Wasp eggs.

They are the good buggies

I garden organically too, and have learned to make peace with the pests. I used

to randomly kill bees and wasps, until I realized how important they were to my

garden! Now, I let them do their thing. As for my veggies? Anything nibbling

on them has got to go! I have no qualms about protecting my food!! I have a

rule-if I am outside, which is THEIR house, I am fair game to get stung or

bitten, if they are in MY house, they are fair game for getting sucked up with a

bug vacuum then flushed down the toilet! I do my best to PREVENT pests from

getting on my veggies in the first place (DE and beer are both great

preventatives, as it cayenne pepper) but if they DO get on my plants, they are

done for. I don't go poking around THEIR nests, and they best not come poking

around mine!
