Guest guest
What is it that you find offensive? Sounds to me like they are saying there IS a cure for lonliness, and that is making connections with a friend. Offensive billboard ad in my neighborhood Just wanted to get our input on something I found to be very offensive. On Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia, PA, near the entrance to Route 76 is a billboard which shows two kids, probably teens, making funny faces and the slogan reads " There is no cure for mental retardation, only loneliness " . I believe its for some kind of teen chat line. I find it completely offensive. Any thoughts? Id like to find out the company that placed the ad and give them a piece of my mind. Anyone with me email me at wildhart28@... Janel (mom to Seamus, 2 1/2 yrs, Ds)
Guest guest
It would bother me too. I am tired of MR being the subject of humor lately. Guest guest
Hi All over Kansas (and Kan. is the only state I have noticed this in) are billboards by the Shriners (a group of people who mean well and do a lot of good deeds) which read " Needy Crippled Children Deserve the Best. " I (and I am sure many others) wrote some letters about a year ago and now most (but not all) of the billboards have the " Needy crippled " removed and they say " Children Deserve the Best. " Dad to , Kristi, (all three have Down syndrome) and (Cri du chat) Husband to C. in Mo. Guest guest
Is it me? I don't understand the billboard AT ALL, so I don't know if it's offensive or not. What's the point? Jackie, Mom to 15ds, 12, and Bradley
Guest guest
Are the kids in this billboard mr - as to say they WANT kids with mr to call in? OR does it imply that you can cure loneliness, and well ...at least you aren't retarded, because there is no cure for that? If it is the last one, I think the MR issue should be left out of the billboard all together. There certainly isn't any reason to try to make children feel that they are better than kids with MR.
