Tom you have NO IDEA how much it means to me to hear something like this, "I have been green smoothing since December and have lost 20 pounds." Seriously I appreciate the income I get from Vitamix, but I couldn't do a job this difficult if it were only about the money. I sincerely feel like I am involved in helping people make positive changes in their lives and to hear a comment like this confirms it. Thank You Thank You! :-)

I remember meeting you. I can't wait to get back to Lady Lake but I don't have a schedule past August. Be sure I'll let you know if I'm coming back!

BTW, I meet a lot of 3600 owners who upgrade to the 5200 but keep their 3200 - it is great for making flour (no need to see saves the need to get a dry container! And it just feels like an old friend. However if you ever do let it go - DON'T put it in a garage sale - they often bring up to $150 on EBay!

This is my first time to post, I have been lurking in the background for a few months and enjoying all of the information that you all have provided. I bought my 5200 from Lee Ann in December at Sam's in Lady Lake, FL. I have owned a 3600 for 25 years but I did not really appreciate it until I watched Lee Ann's demo's for 3 days. I still have my 3600 and would not get rid of it, it still works great. However I do like the 5200 extremely well. I have been green smoothing since December and have lost 20 pounds. I make ice cream Lee Ann's way with grape juice. I do tomato juice and others. While reading the post for the last couple of days and especially about the potato soup, I got hungry for my potato soup; I have made it for a long time. So I decided I would have it for lunch today and it was tasty, it is almost vegan. Hear it is:2 medium baking potatoes2 stalks of celery with leaves 1 big slice of onion3 cups of filtered water1 heaping tsp of chicken bullion I use Vogue low salt get it at health store2 heaping tsp of non fat dry milkBacon bits optional Cut up the potatoes into 1" pieces (leave the skin on) and chop the onion and cut the celery into small pieces with the leaves, cook this in the micro for 2 ½ min. Heat the water in micro for about 6 min and place into the blender. Place the potatoes, onion's in the blender reserving 1/3 of them for later (I cook the potatoes and onion together). Place the celery into the blender. Place the bullion into the blender and the milk. Start the machine and go to 10 then high and let it blend for 4 or 5 min to get steaming hot. Reduce to 2 and add the 1/3 of remaining potatoes and onion and let blend for 15 or 20 sec.Serve and top with the bacon bits. Thanks again for all of the information that you all give so freely.Tom in the Villages, FL

LeeAnn, I’m sure part of my weight loss is the

green smoothies too…I have been doing green smoothies for almost a year

now, but it wasn’t til I started food combining with it that the weight started

coming off.  Sometimes I think I put too much fruit in my green smoothies but

my body is hungry for it, so that’s what I do.

Love you, Marsha

Thanks for this Marsha - this is really important information because I can share it with others who are trying to lose weight but hitting road blocks - at least it is something to try! I can assure you that I try to adhere to the "eat melons alone or leave them alone" food combining rule!

Love you too! :-)

You can sub veg bouillon for chicken but be advised that the Better

Than line includes both non-beef and non-chicken options. Both are very

good! (I have the veg, mushroom, and both " nons " in my kitchen at all

times.)

It seems to me that there must be something that can sub for the

milk--I'm sure there's someone on the list whose cranial matter is

functioning at a more efficient level than mine who'll come up with a

suggestion.

I am

REALLY new at all this, but would nut or rice milk work as a substitute for the milk?

It would have to be unsweetened but maybe, especially the rice.

I think so! Google Cashew Cream (check out the Google images while you are at it). That is the closest substitute that I can think of...

I know darned good and well that my cranial matter is not functioning any better

than 's, but you can use nut or rice milk thickened with a bit of tapioca

starch to keep things vegan. Often, rice or nut milks are very thin. I add a

bit of cooked tapioca pearls, or tapioca gel that I make in the vitamix by

simmering pearls in a little water until they are translucent, then whizzing

them in the VM with a little more water or rice/nut milk.

flour by buzzing up the pearls, or for making the gel (which is a great egg

substitute) after simmering them.
