Guest guest
, Mine made 16 beeps every 8 hours when the battery had only three months left. It sounded like an electronic watch alarm, or a low battery signal on a smoke detector. It drove me nuts for a couple of days. I was looking around for a watch or smoke alarm, but the sound stayed at the same volume no matter where I went. I wish I had been advised that the AICD beeps when the battery starts to run down. If yours is making only three or four beeps at a time, it may have a different meaning. Call the tech department at Guidant for the best scoop. I have a Guidant unit that is only three years old and I think it is beeping, only the sound is very faint, a series of three or four electronic beeps once a day or so. I can't be sure because when I hear it I keep looking around for some electronic device that's making noise like my cell phone or pager. Guest guest
When mine started beeping I could only really hear it at night. There was quite a bit of charge left so you don't have to be alarmed. The unit I had beeped every four hours if I remember correctly. Guest guest
My doctor told me that it would be a quiet beep and would beep about 6 times every 6 hours. I got mine replaced before it beeped though. You'd better call your doctor. Ruth in PA

Guest guest
Thanks, Pete. Since I use a CPAP to sleep, I can't hear anything other than the whoosh of the air machine. Guest guest
Thanks, Ruth. I decided to call my EP and they gave me an appointment right away. They said that the battery life is rated for 3-5 years depending on how much work it does so they weren't surprised that the ICD is beeping. They will put me on the replacement schedule within a month.
