Guest guest
Hello again Riccardo; I guess you know something more than i do. I was not aware of the fact that there was a promise of aid in 1991. No wonder why i heard the previous government in Turkey wanted it in writing. Thanks for pointing it out. Nevertheless Our troops are knocking on the doors of Baghdat. Please everyone say a little prayer so they can take it without or minimal casualties. Regards TURK(in NJ) Re: Topic = Turkey for Connie and Odis England Hi TURK:Thank you for welcoming me to the group. You obviously know a lot more about Turkey than I do. I have visited most of Europe and a little bit of most continents. All I can say is that when I visited Instanbul in the 60's I was very impressed and feeling it so different from the West (not to mention magnificent sites like the Sultanahmet or Blue Mosque, and the former Basilica of St. Spohia).I thank you for what you wrote, but there is another important detail about the desert storm war in 1991: Turkey was an important member of the coalition and the US had promised specific financial aid to Turkey (just like the US promised financial aid to Pakistan during the recent Afghanistan war). Most of the "promised US financial aid" didn't materialize for either Pakistan or Turkey (that was one reason why Turkey wanted cash now instead of later). You know the saying: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.Knowledge is a wonderful thing.Riccardo in Philadelphia ..
