Charlene,

I hope your daughter is better soon. Please let us know how she is doing.

Carly had Kawasaki's Disease in August of 2000, and it was a nightmare. I

hope it's just something that will pass.

Take Care

CONGRATS !! Its just a shame we have to fight for everything. We are getting

ESY this year also. But in fall, I am keeping a journal of her behavior

before, during & after school breaks & I will be asking the school staff to do

the same. This way I can show how hard school breaks are for her. Again --

congrats --

meeting today

Update on the meeting today. They agreed that extended year

services will consist of two days a week for 30 minutes helping me teach my

son the pex system! This might not seem much at all but with these people

it is quite a miracle. The meeting went much better then planned.

My daughter woke up this morning with a headach and a bloody nose.

Then didnt eat lunch. Had headach all day. Then 4 bloody noses during

the day. So this evening I took her to the ER and she has strep throat

again! Ever since we moved here oct 2000 she has had strep at least 5

times a year!

I want to thank everyone that wished me well. The meeting went so well

and I realized I panicked for nothing. Charlene

Thats a great idea . Documentation so they know you mean

business! I was so surprised at the results yesterday. OH and a lady was

there from CDE (colorado department of education) and also the town mayor

stopped by while this meeting was in progress. I truely believe they all

know who I am now LOL. Thanks

Hi Charlene,

Kawasaki's Disease is the leading cause of heart disease in children. It's

symptoms are persistent fever (usually 5 days or more) that doesn't go away

with asprin or tylenol, swollen lymph node in the neck area, red itchy eyes

with no discharge, red/swollen hands and feet, rash on body, strawberry

tongue, and rash on bottom (like a diaper rash, but actually caused by strep

virus). After the initial infection and treatment with IVIG, the child's

hands and feet begin to peel. Basically it attacks the heart and some

children will die from it.

To learn more about KD, go to www.kdfoundation.org.

Carly's picture is on the families page. Just scroll down near the bottom.

She's the little one with curly blond hair.

HI :)

we finished Sara's BIP this afternoon, a 3 hour meeting of complaining,

whining etc.... about Sara's behavior..... mainly from one of her teachers

but all shared how Sara is not this perfect angel???? I think these meetings

are the hardest to deal with. I heard a lot of excuses, denials, to what they

REALLY are doing or should I say, not doing, no one really taking

responsibility for their own behavior geeeeeeeesh could the apple not be

falling far from the educational tree???? anyway she did get a soso plan, if

implemented but I sure wish I could force some accountability on their

shoulders, to may to make sure they are working with her needs in mind.

Sara's SS teacher really showed her true colors today, she does not think her

class is appropriate for Sara, that SS is not appropriate for Sara. Luckily

the administrator today corrected this line of thinking, now I wish the SS

teacher would take interest and change her obvious style of teaching to meet

all of the kids learning style. While Im holding my breath waiting NOT Im

going to really work closely with the aide, so Sara can receive an

appropriate education in this part of the curriculum :)

All and all Im glad its over until the next issue pops up lol

Kathy mom to Sara 10 .......... ready to snuggle with my " perfect " angel

heehee
