Guest guest
Hey, Everyone! I just wanted to share my excitement. OK, so it's a *really* small thing, but it's exciting to me. :-) My grandma always makes homemade wassail at Christmas, and one of my favorite memories of Christmases growing up is her wassail simmering on the stove. I *love* that stuff. Have you guys all had it before? All of the sudden I thought, hey, why can't I try making a wassail FO for soap?!? I think that I successfully did it. I looked at her wassail recipe and looked at the FOs that I have, and I tried to come up with something similar that smelled as good as hers. Here's what I did: 10 drops sweet cranberry FO10 drops mulled cider FO5 drops satsuma & cinnamon FO3 drops bay rum FO Her wassail calls for lemon juice, and there is no lemon in this recipe, but the satsuma scent does come through with a citrusy scent, so it's kind of similar. (I've never used lemon FO or even heard of it -- I'm sure that it exists, but I don't know where to find a good one!) Anyway, it smells *almost* exactly like her wassail. I'm so excited! I think that I'll make a special bar of this for myself for Christmas. Color it a cranberry color and maybe suspend some ground cinnamon inside. That would be a special treat for myself for Christmas! :-) You could come up with all kinds of variations of this, too -- use a different cranberry (maybe something more realistic instead of sweet), use apple jack FO, use cinnamon FO, etc. Thanks for letting me share, nne (Albany)
