Guest guest
We learned about this in school... scary isn't it??? <<England is old and small and they started running out of places to bury people. So, they would dig up coffins and would take their bones to a house and re-use the grave. In reopening these coffins, one out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string on their wrist and lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night to listen for the bell. Hence on the " graveyard shift " they would know that someone was " saved by the bell " or he was a " dead ringer " .>> _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Not so old, this one, my mother had to do this, and she is only 58 yrs old. I am not sure when disposable pads became available, not so long ago must have been in the early 60's (though this was in NZ, maybe they were behind the times. I still cringe when I think about those really long thick " surfboards " that I had to use at first, impossible to hide in a school bag, and I am only 33! Some things change for the best that is for sure! > Aisha, > Here is another one: (It's gross!) > > Back in the " old days " before they had tampons or pads, women would use old > rags between there legs.
