There is a new medication that just came out this month that treats ADHD - it's

called Strattera and it is not a stimulant.

principal today telling me that from now on, when she doesn't want to do her

work(she has a big stubborn streak) they are going to call me to come to get

her. I immediately called her & told her that will not happen.<

Good for you!! Does she have a FBA?

Our school district has its flaws - but this isn't a bad area. I hope things

work out for you/ - you aren't the first parent to move after dealing with

a school and getting no where.

I've had it. I have to get out of this school district. They are

unbelievably ignorant & difficult when it come to inclusion.

And we aren't even doing full inclusion. (10ds & adhd) is based in a

regular 3rd grade class. She is pulled for reading & math with a special ed

teacher ( 40 & OCD). She has a full time 1-1 aide. She had the same one for

4 years, & now a new one who is so so sweet that she lets get away

with murder. She is also pulled for OT 3x/wk & speech 3x/wk. And they still

can't figure out how to do it!!!! I am also in the process of working with

the ped & a psyc.( have been for months)

on finding the right meds for her adhd. I get a letter home from the

principal today telling me that from now on, when she doesn't want to do her

work(she has a big stubborn streak) they are going to call me to come to get

her. I immediately called her & told her that will not happen. She said she

no longer supports the placement & it needs to change. I informed her she

has a major fight on her hands.

But, this is the way the whole district is. Also, the CSE is doing so many

illegal things. Numerous complaints have been filed, including by me. Also

some law suits. The thing is, I don't want to keep putting her where she's

not wanted. I also know that a special ed class is not the right place for

her. She has proved over & over again that she learns from her environment &

from what she sees. I feel like I'm really ready to make a move. I need to

find a district that believes in inclusion & tries to do their best. Does

anyone know of such a place? Also, a place that's willing to try to make it

work beyond elementary school.

Thanks for listening to me rant.

complaints I filed with the state.

Jan. 7 we had a CSE meeting. Wrote new goals. School psych. did a new

FBA & a new intervention plan.

Now today the pricipal tells me she wants out!!! It's only been

in place for a few days!!!!

I got so mad after talking to her on the phone that the poor dog peed on

the floor!

Donna, don't you live in the Saratoga area? Look into the North Colonie

school district, Schalmont, Averill Park, and my personal favorite,

Duanesburg.
