Guest guest
Dan and fellow colleagues: I agree Terry it's gotten to be a bit much. Vern Saboe, DC political agenda Listserve: I have attempted to communicate with the moderator of the group and Terry Petty regarding the measure 23 political agenda that Dr Petty is forcing upon the group. I was informed that I could simply hit the del button if I did not care to read the e-mail. While I believe that information about measure 23 could be useful for some individuals. A line of courtesy has been far surpassed, in my opinion, regarding the views of and information concerning measure 23. In good taste I do not believe that this listserve was set up for the reason of advancing an individual political agenda on an ongoing basis wether this is measure 23 or any other ongoing agenda as there seems to be more than one. There were more than 15 e-mails last week alone regarding this measure by Dr Petty. With that in mind I would ask that those of you who are of a similar mindset to ask our moderator and Dr Petty to review the ongoing diatribe. Thank you Dr BOregonDCs rules:1. Guest guest
Thank you Dan for the cohunnas to make a statement on the subject. I feel the group looses focus and looks like a teen chatline, because so many posts are returned to the group, which are more appropriately replied individually. It becomes impossible to filter through the 30-80 e-mails without batch deleting. Unfortunately there is some great stuff that gets lots via the delete button. Please limit repetitive SMACK and off topic banter. Often less is more! Guest guest
Dear Terry, Before you completely shut-up on the subject or something I do have a question that if you would I would appreciate you checking into for me. Here is the picture: this thing passes and I have a very serious heart condition I loose my BX coverage because BX no longer writes in Oregon and I have to go with this new super-d-duper thing and hey it just doesn't fly for what ever reason and say in 2-3 years they decide they were wrong and they discontinue the state coverage and go back to the old system. Is there some provision they are making for people like me who will then be unble to get insurance again because no one will want to take me, especially BX (who will be thrilled they were able to cut me off) because it is serious enough they maybe looking at have to pay for a transplant down the time line? Or, if there is no such provision for that can you make sure and keep a list of everyone involved with this measure because I personally know of a couple of attorneys who maybe interested in a class action suit against all of them at that point. Thanks and let me know what thy have planned should this happen even though I know all they are talking about at this time is the positives they must realize that even if this bird passes it still may not fly and there is going to have be some responsible way of making sure everyone can again get insurance the old fashion way (pay through the nose). Take care and thanks in advance Steve Kinne ----- Original Message
Guest guest
Steve, I have the bad feeling that this is one of those areas where we're expected to trust in the process. I don't think there IS an answer to your question, but I have forwarded it to a local guy here who seems to know as much as anybody. He will know where to look if he doesn't have an answer for you. Good question. How 'bout them Giants?! Terry Petty, D.C. Guest guest
There's a good story about the broker who was overwhelming the guy about his EXCELLENT stocks for sale. After being hard sold for awhile, the potential customer said, " I'll buy as much as YOU own. " (No sale.) So ask the " local guy here who seems to know as much as anybody " if he'll sign a contract to cover you should this process fail to match your current BX coverage. Don't worry. He won't. Keep this brilliant dialogue going Terry. It seems to be shining a bright light on the initiative. -- E. Abrahamson, D.C. Guest guest
Dan and Ted, I understand your frustration with seeing something repeated frequently that you feel is not interesting or pushing a personal agenda, but as a moderator I don't want to be put in the uncomfortable position of censoring topics unless the rules below or other established protocols are violated. I think it's pretty clear that at least some folks are tired of the subject, and that may be enough to curtail discussion on the issue. Alternatively, further discussion could be labeled OT. Guest guest
Dear Dr. B, this is something that could impact us all. Even tho I am currently opposed to this measure, I do appreciate any information that educates me on the subject. So I wouldn't limit the discussion. Guest guest
When I joined this list, I suggested to Dr. Freeman that we be instructed to clearly label our messages in the subject. In this way we can delete things which clearly don't apply to our interests or needs. (Rural doctor school loans may not interest me but rural doctors riding horseback in swimming suits may be interesting.) Dr. Freeman told me that they have not had any trouble with " spam " and that the list works fine. I have many well intentioned contacts who forward every item they receive which is inspiring, newsworthy, a just cause, or urgent. Unfortunately, many of them have the discernment of crows: if it's a shiny thing laying in the road, they pick it up! I would hope that when we forward things, we would take the time to assure that the header clearly depicts the content. Many email programs have filters which will delete pre-determined email. -- E.
