Hey, everyone. This is Phyl, ita's hubby. I just wanted to let you all know that she made it through her surgery with flying colors! The doctors are pleased with how everything went and with how she is progressing. They are going to try to get her out of bed today - she said she's ready to dance (of course, right after she said that, she nodded off to sleep again).

They did an Echo at the beginning and end of her surgery, and they said that, by the time they finished closing, her right ventricle had already begun to shrink!

In the process of her surgery, one of her ICD leads came loose, so they are going to keep her in ICU until the shock doc can come in and fix it. But the surgeon said it shouldn't extend her time in the hospital much, if at all.

I will keep you posted when I have a chance. Until then, thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes.

Turk,

I've been a "lurker" for a while. My 16 year old son was diagnosed with ARVD and had an ICD implanted on February 27, 2002. My husband passed away suddenly at the age of 21 (I was expecting our son). The doctors now assume he had ARVD. My son and I are still trying to deal with the whole life-changing situation and this site has been wonderful therapy for us. I'm trying to gather the strength for the both of us but some days are harder than others.

Belinda Welcome don't lurk talk to us. I for one am totally insane but very

harmless. I am 56 years old and working on my third icd. Its a long story

but like the others I have been to hell and back. I was at my lowest point.

I had given p I had tried support groups and everything but nothing seemed to

help me where I was at. Then I found this group while searching the net for

help and I didn't know anything about how to even communicate to any of them

I just wrote this big long letter and cried my eyes out and then before I

could even sign off people started talking to me. Bill was one of the first

and his humor has lifted and carried me miles.

Some days are good and I look around and say wow look I am doing it I living

then there are those days that creep up for no real reason that hit you over

the head and bring you so low. Somewhere in the middle you learn that its

not all bad. Yeah we all got cheated and we are all giving up a great deal

and we all have a great deal of grief and pain but I guess for me today I can

say at least I can talk to all of you about it. At least I am still able to

talk.

I can't imagine being in your shoes a deal with what you have had to deal

with. The loss of your husband at such a young age while you were carrying

your child and now the fear that only a mother's heart knows when you can't

fix or hide your child from what is affecting his life. I know there are

special places for people like you.

Welcome to the world of zappers.

Sharon
