Barb,

Not to worry, we all be on the ground in that same position probably! No one

is admitted without their own medications! Also, next door neighbor is a

chiropractor.....that should help and now you have no excuses!

See ya,

It may have been the big NIH epidemiological study that was conducted in

Wichita Kansas. They interviewed 50,000 people. I am not sure but the may

have been a similar study in Chicago.

>>>My son has good days, but at this point I would say he's

on the low-functioning side. <<<

What is considered " low functioning? " Are there " definitions somewhere out

there? IS there an age at which you would determine the functioning level?

My son is onyl 3 (will be 4 in August) and I feel like it's still a little

to young to say what his functioning level is? Or is it just in comparision

to what he should be doing at this age?

TIA

Yes, usually the benchmarks for development of neurotypical children are used to

categorize our children. The more your child can do that is comparable to a

neurotypical child of equal age means the higher functioning they are

considered. It really is quite a puzzle to figure out exactly where on the

spectrum your child falls. I think that is why it takes so long to get a

diagnosis at a young age ( the window for the benchmarks is so huge), for many

parents and children this is devastating, because often the therapy or help

doesn't come until after the child has been officially labeled. There was a

table in a book I read that listed several things a child should be doing by 18

mo. and if your child wasn't doing these things, then there was a problem. My

son couldn't any of the things on the list. Unfortunately I didn't come across

the book until he was 3 1/2, but fortunately I didn't accept what the doctors

said when he was 14 mo. and that is when I started researching, and then started

intervention.

What is considered " low functioning? " Are there " definitions somewhere out

there? IS there an age at which you would determine the functioning level?

I have not been to a talk by her, but I have seen her on television and I would

not consider her low functioning. She can talk. She is able to support herself.

I suspect that she can use the bathroom. If my son could get there, I would be a

happy camper and would not consider him low functioning. Right now he can't do

any of those things.

Don't call the MS police!

Maybe it is best to privately e-mail in this regard. It is expensive stuff and it seems a shame to waist it if it is really needed by someone. Just hope each person on each end is reliable and honest. But that is what we hope for when ordering LDN from other countries too.
